Chief Warrant Officer Alex Arndt was born in Kitchener, Ontario. He joined the CAF 6 Sep 1990 as a Reserve Infantryman (R031). He was given a component transfer in Oct 1992 to the Regular Force as a Communicator Research Operator (291). Upon completion of his QL3 Training in Jun 1994 at the Canadian Forces School of Communications and Electronics (CFSCE) in Kingston Ontario, he began his first post at CFS Leitrim, which saw a tour of CFS Alert, after which he was posted to the Canadian Forces Network Operations Centre (CFNOC) from the unit’s stand up in Sep 2003 until 2007.

He was promoted to MCpl and Sgt during his time at CFNOC. In 2007 he was posted to 21 EW Regt and deployed to Afghanistan in 2009 as the ES Section Commander in ASIC EW Troop as part of TF 1-09. He posted back to CFNOC in 2010 and was promoted to WO in 2011. He was posted to CFIOGHQ in 2014, then the Land EW Centre under Director Land Command and Information (DLCI) in 2015. During his time at the LEWC, he planned and executed several operational trials and evaluations (OT&E) of land countermeasures in support of interoperability with Canada’s allies. Promoted to MWO in Dec 2016, he returned to CFNOC, where he served as the B Sqn Sergeant Major until his promotion to CWO.

CWO Arndt converted to Cyber Operator (MOSID 00378) in Oct 2017, becoming the first MWO in the occupation and the Senior Operator. Promoted to his current rank in May 2019, he served as the Senior Occupation Advisor for the Cyber Operator occupation until his appointment as the CFNOC Unit CWO, where he served from Aug 2019 until his appointment as the C&E Branch CWO position in Jul 2022.

CWO Arndt completed the Army Technical Warrant Officer Programme (ATWOP) in 2014, earning the title of Master Gunner. He has been married to his wife Natasha for over 25 years and has three sons.
