Colonel Walter Jull was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia. After employment with the BC Government, he enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces as a Signals Officer and was subsequently posted to 2 Electronic Warfare Squadron in 2004. Colonel Jull deployed to Kandahar in 2006 as the Electronic Warfare Troop Commander for the 1st Battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry Battle Group. In 2007, he was posted to Canadian Forces Intelligence Command and in 2009 proceeded on post graduate studies at the University of Alberta.

After completing post-graduate training, Colonel Jull was posted to the National Defence HQ Transformation project at National Defense Headquarters. In 2012, he was selected to work for the Chief Operating Officer at Shared Services Canada (SSC) where he worked on a small team establishing SSC’s data centre transformation agenda. Following the work with SSC, Colonel Jull was posted to the Defence Renewal Team where he was the desk officer responsible for DND’s Deficit Reduction Action Plan (DRAP) and supported the development and execution of the DND/CAF Defence Renewal plan. In 2015, he was posted to Edmonton as Commanding Officer of 1 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group Headquarters and Signal Squadron. In 2017, he was posted to Director General Information Management Operations (DGIMO) Headquarters in Ottawa and in 2020 he became the Deputy Director of Information Management Security.

He commanded the Canadian Forces Electronic Warfare Centre from April 2021 to June 2023 and is currently Deputy DGIMO and Chief of Staff Support Cyber Forces, as well as Director of the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals.

Colonel Jull holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of British Columbia and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Alberta. He is a graduate of the Canadian Army Command and Staff College and the United States Marine Corps Command and Staff College.

He is married to Colonel Laura Jull (Physician) and together they have three children.
