C&E WEEK 2020

Officers and NCMs of the C&E Branch and its founding services: this post and the attachments below provide an overview of C&E Week 2020.  Note that this year’s event will deviate from previous iterations. Due to recent health-related restrictions, the focus this year shall be on lectures, PD sessions, and seminars via virtual platforms (e.g. MS Teams). C&E Week will span Saturday, 24 October to Thursday, 29 October 2020.  The various events shall be completely virtual in nature with remote attendance drawn from across the country. The schedule for C&E Week 2020 can be found in the attachment below labeled C&E Week 2020 – Master Schedule. C&E Week 2020 – Instructions shall provide a complete overview of C&E Week and all events contained within. BRANCH UPDATE 2020

The C&E Branch Update represents the final component of C&E Week 2020. It aims to address the wider C&E community on issues, challenges, and opportunities facing our Branch and our founding services.  Additionally, it provides a fitting venue to recognize our members by means of honours, awards, and educational bursaries. Branch Update Agenda: C&E Week 2020 – Branch Update Agenda Virtual Attendance Details: The Branch Update will be broadcasted as a Microsoft Teams Live Event.  As mentioned in the instructions and news post, the Branch Update shall occur on Thursday, 29 October 2020 from 0930 – 1200 hours EST. For Attendees: The link to the meeting shall be displayed below once all details are properly configured.  It is expected to be online in the coming days.  The Branch Office will also share the link across the C&E Branch Distribution Lists on the DWAN GAL for mass awareness. For Presenters: Speakers will be invited directly by the Branch Update OPI and his moderating / Tech Support Staff via calendar invites to your preferred MS Teams account (Defence O-365 or personal profile). Carruthers Gravesite Ceremony 2020

Major Bruce Carruthers Memorial Gravesite Ceremony was held at the Cataraqui Cemetery in West-end Kingston to honour the founder of the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals (RCCS) and the perpetuated C&E Branch (October 24 marks the 117 anniversary of the RCCS). The Canadian Forces Joint Signal Regiment (CFJSR) orchestrated the ceremony and was limited to an audience of ten (10) personnel max IAW Operation LASER restrictions. Professional Development Seminar 2020

On Wednesday, 28 October 2020 – from 1000 until 1500 hours EST, the C&E Association shall host a Professional Development Seminar to discuss emerging technologies and listen to the operational experiences of several Branch members recently returning from overseas deployments.  This year we are partnering with AFCEA – Canada’s premier information technology, communications, and electronics association – to present three ‘virtual’ professional development sessions. Among the roster of highly credentialed speakers, the seminar will have three recently retired Brigadier-Generals: John Turnbull, Rob Mazzolin, and Martin Girard.  The course shall be hosted on Microsoft Teams.  Upon registration, you will receive an invitation from the moderating staff. Note that registration has now been extended to Friday, 23 October 2020 at 1600 hours EST.
