Free baggage for CAF Veterans
Currently serving Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members and veterans now benefit from an enhanced baggage allowance when they travel on a WESTJET, AIR CANADA, AIR CANADA ROUGE or AIR CANADA EXPRESS FLIGHT or PORTER flights.
These offers apply to both duty and leisure travel.
WESTJET
Through WESTJET, all serving CAF members and veterans can check four pieces of luggage free of charge
AIR CANADA
Through AIR CANADA, AIR CANADA ROUGE or AIR CANADA EXPRESS FLIGHT all serving CAF members and veterans can check three pieces of luggage free of charge.
At check-in ask to have the baggage fee waived, upon presentation of your military identification.
Acceptable forms of Canadian military identification are:
- CAF or veteran CFOne Card (with photo ID)
- CAF Identification Card (NDI 20)
- Record of Service Card (NDI 75)
PORTER
All serving CAF members and veterans including US military personnel are eligible for an enhanced baggage allowance when travelling on a Porter flight. Baggage fees will be waived for up to 3 pieces of checked baggage per person, as long as the following conditions are met:
- Military personnel may be active or retired.
- Military identification must be shown at airport check in.
- No single piece can exceed 203 cm (80 in) total dimension or weigh more than 32 kg (70lb).
If you meet these requirements, please have your bags tagged and checked at the airport to take advantage of the enhanced baggage allowance. If you check in on line or at an airport kiosk, you should indicate that you are travelling without checked bags.
Note: Family members or friends travelling on the same or separate reservation are not eligible for the enhanced baggage allowance.
