RETIREMENT – MASTER WARRANT OFFICER MAURICE L. BOIRE, CD 00394 – IS TECH

1. MASTER WARRANT OFFICER MAURICE “MOE” BOIRE WILL RELEASE FROM THE REGULAR FORCE ON 14 AUG, 2022, AFTER 36 YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE TO CANADA, THE ARMED FORCES, AND THE ROYAL CANADIAN CORPS OF SIGNALS.

2. MOE STARTED HIS CAREER AS AN INFANTEER IN THE NORTH SASKATCHEWAN RIFLES. AFTER SEVERAL YEARS OF PURSUING A PART-TIME MILITARY CAREER, MOE SAW THE LIGHT, AS IT WERE, AND MADE THE JUMP TO THE REGULAR FORCE AS AN AEROSPACE CONTROL OFFICER. UNFORTUNATELY, DUE TO A MILD CASE OF VERTIGO, MOE WAS FORTUNATELY BLESSED WITH AN OPPORTUNITY TO JOIN THE CORPS AS A RAD OP.

AFTER COMPLETING HIS QL3 COURSE AT CFSCE, MOE WAS POSTED TO 1 CDHSR AT CFB KINGSTON. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, HE WAS DEPLOYED TO RWANDA, AS PART OF UNAMIR IN 1995. CPL BOIRE THEN CONTINUED TO IMPROVE HIS TRADE KNOWLEDGE IN SEVERAL POSITIONS AROUND 1 CDHSR UNTIL 1999, WHEN HE WAS DEPLOYED TO GOLAN HEIGHTS AS PART OF OP DANACA. AFTER HIS RETURN TO KINGSTON, CPL BOIRE PARTICIPATED IN THE TRANSFORMATION OF 1 CDHSR INTO CFJSR. IN 2001, MCPL BOIRE, WAS POSTED TO 2 CMBG HQ AND SIG SQN. MOE’S TIME IN 2 CMBG WAS INTENSE BUT SHORT, WITH A DEPLOYMENT TO KABUL MNB, HQ & SIG SQN IN 2003.   

AFTER RETURNING FROM KABUL, MCPL BOIRE WAS POSTED BACK TO CFJSR AND WAS DEPLOYED AGAIN IN QUICK SUCCESSION, TO ADDIS ABABA SUPPORTING THE AFRICAN UNION’S 2005 SUDANESE MISSION, AND THEN AGAIN TO AFGHANISTAN IN 2006. AFTER THIS SECOND TENURE AT CFJSR, SGT BOIRE WAS OFFERED AN OPPORTUNITY TO APPLY HIS OPERATIONAL EXPERIENCE IN SATCOM AS THE SUPERVISOR AT THE SATELLITE OPERATIONS CENTRE (SOC) IN TUNNEYS.   

MOE ENJOYED THE NEXT SEVERAL YEARS IN THE OTTAWA AREA, FILLING SEVERAL POSITIONS UNTIL 2012, WHEN HE WAS PROMOTED TO WO, THUS HE WAS POSTED BACK HOME TO SASKATOON AS THE RSS OPS WO AT 38 SIG DEGT DET SASKATOON. IN 2016, THE CAREER MANAGER HITCHED UP THE TRACTOR AND UPROOTED THE PROUD PRAIRIE BOY, POSTING HIM TO NATO ALLIED COMMAND TRANSFORMATION IN NORFOLK, VIRGINIA. IN THE SUN AND THE SAND, MWO BOIRE MADE A NAME FOR HIMSELF, CHAMPIONING SEVERAL PROJECTS AT THE NATO HQ. HE SURVIVED A PANDEMIC AND AMERICAN GUN LAWS TO MAKE IT HOME TO CANADA IN 2021 WITH A POSTING TO 4 CDN DIV HQ AS THE FORMATION INFORMATION SYSTEMS MANAGER (FISM) AND THE ACTING FOREMAN OF SIGS (FOS). 

3. AT THE END OF HIS REGULAR FORCE CAREER, MWO BOIRE AND HIS WIFE TABITHA, LOOK FORWARD TO SETTLING AROUND SASKATOON WHERE THEY CAN ENJOY THE FRESH PRAIRIE AIR AND VISITS WITH THEIR GRANDCHILDREN
