RETIREMENT – BRIGADIER GENERAL JAMES LAMBERT, CD, 00341 SIGS

1. BRIGADIER GENERAL JAMES LAMBERT, CD WILL RETIRE FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES AFTER 36 PLUS YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE TO CANADA ON 21 OCTOBER 2022.

2. BGEN LAMBERT JOINED THE CANADIAN FORCES IN 1986 AND GRADUATED FROM THE ROYAL MILITARY COLLEGE IN 1991 WITH A DEGREE IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING. AFTER MANY YEARS IN 5 GBMC, INCLUDING A DEPLOYMENT WITH 1 R22ER ON A UNITED NATIONS MISSION IN HAITI, HE WAS PROMOTED TO MAJOR IN 2001 AND THEREAFTER COMPLETED A MASTER’S DEGREE IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION FROM LAVAL UNIVERSITY. IN JUNE 2006, HE WAS APPOINTED THE COMMANDING OFFICER OF 2 CMBG HEADQUARTERS AND SIGNAL SQUADRON IN PETAWAWA, FOLLOWED IN MAY 2008 BY A DEPLOYMENT TO KANDAHAR, AFGHANISTAN, AS THE CANADIAN JOINT TASK FORCE J6, WHERE HE WAS PROMOTED TO THE RANK OF LIEUTENANT-COLONEL. IN 2009, BRIGADIER GENERAL LAMBERT WAS ASSIGNED TO THE US ARMY COMMAND AND GENERAL STAFF COLLEGE IN FORT LEAVENWORTH, KANSAS, FROM WHICH HE GRADUATED WITH A MASTERS IN MILITARY ART AND SCIENCE. IN 2013, BRIGADIER GENERAL LAMBERT WAS APPOINTED THE COMMANDANT OF THE CANADIAN FORCES SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATIONS AND ELECTRONICS. PROMOTED TO COLONEL IN 2015, BRIGADIER GENERAL LAMBERT FIRST SERVED AS THE CHIEF OF STAFF OF THE CANADIAN ARMY DOCTRINE AND TRAINING CENTRE, BEFORE BEING APPOINTED COMMANDER 7 COMMUNICATION GROUP IN 2016. AT THE END OF HIS COMMAND TOUR IN 2018 HE ATTENDED THE SENIOR COURSE AT THE NATO DEFENCE COLLEGE IN ROME AND WAS THEREAFTER EMPLOYED AS THE DEPUTY DIRECTOR GENERAL CYBERSPACE. IN 2019 BRIGADIER GENERAL WAS PROMOTED TO HIS CURRENT RANK TO SERVE IN CFINTCOM AS THE DIRECTOR GENERAL INTELLIGENCE ENTERPRISE, FOLLOWED IN 2020 BY AN APPOINTMENT AS THE DIRECTOR GENERAL INFORMATION MANAGEMENT OPERATIONS AND THE JOINT FORCE CYBER COMPONENT COMMANDER. HE ALSO SERVED AS THE COMMUNICATIONS AND ELECTRONICS BRANCH LEADER FROM JUNE 2020 UNTIL JULY 2022.

BRIGADIER GENERAL LAMBERT HAS TWO BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTERS, PRACTICES ALL SPORTS AND PARTICULARLY ENJOYS COMPETITIVE RUNNING AND GOLF, AND SERVES AS THE PATRON OF CAF MEN’S BASKETBALL. HE LOVES READING AND HAS A SIGNIFICANT INTEREST IN HISTORY. IN THE SHORT TERM, BRIGADIER GENERAL LAMBERT INTENDS TO ENJOY A LITTLE REST WHILE BUILDING A NEW HOME IN MONT-TREMBLANT. HE IS LOOKING FORWARD TO LIFE’S NEXT ADVENTURES, AND WHILE THESE ADVENTURES REMAIN AT THE CONCEPTUAL STAGE, FOR THE TIME BEING, THEY WILL ALMOST CERTAINLY INCLUDE TRAVELING THE WORLD WITH HIS LIFE PARTNER.

BGEN LAMBERT WISHES TO THANK EVERYONE HE HAD THE PLEASURE AND PRIVILEGE TO WORK WITH OVER THE LAST 36 YEARS. HE WILL DEARLY MISS THE PRIVILEGE OF WORKING, EVERY DAY, WITH OUTSTANDING PEOPLE TO MAKE A REAL DIFFERENCE FOR OUR COUNTRY, FOR THE CAF INSTITUTION, AND OUR PEOPLE.
