CAPTAIN BILL KELLAR WILL RETIRE FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES (CAF) ON THE 18 DECEMBER 2022 AFTER 38+ YEARS OF LOYAL AND DISTINCT SERVICE TO CANADA, THE CAF AND THE ROYAL CANADIAN CORPS OF SIGNALS (RCCS).
BILL JOINED AS A YTEP SUPPLY TECH IN OCTOBER 1984. AFTER COMPLETING BASIC TRAINING AND QL3 SUPPLY TECH TRG, HE WAS TRANSFERED TO THE REGULAR FORCE IN A NEW OCUPATION. IN APRIL 1985, HE HEADED OFF TO KINGSTON TO COMPLETE HIS POET AND TQ3 TRAINING AS A TELETYPE AND CYPHER TECHNICIAN (TEL TECH). AS THE TRADES EVOLVED, HE BECAME A LAND COMMUNICATION & INFORMATION SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN (LCIS TECH) FOLLOWED BY AN ARMY COMMUNICATION INFORMATION SYSTEM SPECIALIST (ACISS). IN 2016, BILL COMMISSIONED FROM THE RANKS AS A SIGNALS OFFICER.
BILL HAS COMPLETED POSTINGS TO 1 CDHSR, CFSCE, 79 COMM REGT, 2 CER, 2 GS BN MAINTENANCE COY, DIMEUS, DJSCS AND DLR. IN ADDITION, BILL HAS COMPLETED OPERATIONAL DEPLOYMENTS TO THE GULF WAR (1990-91), BOSNIA (2000-01), KABUL AND KANDAHAR (2005-06).
