1. CWO ALAIN POIRIER WILL RETIRE FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES ON 26 OCTOBER 2018 AFTER MORE THAN 31 YEARS OF LOYAL AND DECATED SERVICES TO THE COMMUNICATION AND ELECTRONICS BRANCH.

2. ORIGINALY FROM BAIE-COMEAU, QC, HE JOINED THE REGULAR FORCE AS A RADIO TECHNICIAN IN 1987 AND PROUDLY WORE THE UNIFORM OF THE CANADIAN ARMY FROM THAT TIME ON. AFTER COMPLETING BASIC TRAINNING, SECOND LANGUAGE TRAINING AND QL3, HE RECEIVED HIS FIRST POSITING TO 3R22R. DURING THAT TIME HE WAS DEPLOYED TO THE OKA CRISIS AND OP HARMONY IN CROATIA. UPON RETUINING FROM CROATIA, HE WAS POSTED TO 5 SERVICE BATALLION UNTIL 1995. IN SEPTEMBER 1995, HE WAS PROMOTED TO MCPL AND POSTED FOR ONLY 7 MONTHS TO 12 RBC AND TRANFERED OVER TO 5 RGC UNTIL 2002.

3. FOLLOWING HIS EXPERIENCE WITH DIFFERENT UNITS WITHIN TH 5 BRIGADE, ALAIN WAS POSTED TO MONTREAL’S SIGNAL SQUADRON AS THE COMMUNICATIONS SGT. PROMOTED TO THE RANK OF WO, HE WAS THEN POSTED TO 202 WORKSHOP DEPOT AS THE TASKING CELL WO. IN 2009, HE WAS PROMOTED TO THE RANK OF MWO AND WAS POSTED FOR THE FIRST TIME TO THE NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION (OTTAWA) AT THE MSVS PROJECT FOR TWO YEARS.

4. BACK TO MONTREAL AFTER THIS SHORT TIME IN OTTAWA, HE BECAME THE 2ND DIVISION FORMAN OF SIGNALS, WHERE HE TOOK PART IN OP ATTENTION ROTO 2 IN KABUL, AFGHANISTAN FOR A PERIOD OF 8 MONTHS. IN JULY 2015, ALAIN WAS ONCE AGAIN POSTED TO OTTAWA WITHIN DLCSPM AS THE VEHICULE INSTALATION LCMM. PROMOTED TO CWO IN JULY 2018, HE TOOK THE DIRECTORATE CWO POSITION AT DLCSPM.

5. ALAIN WOULD LIKE TO THANK HIS WIFE EDITH AS WELL AS HIS TWO SONS MARC-ANTOINE AND SAMUEL FOR THE SUPPORT THEY DEMONSTRATED THROUGHOUT THIS ADVENTURE. ALAIN HAS ACCEPTED A CONTRACT OF EMPLOYMENT WITH VALCOM AS LIFE CYCLE MATERIAL MANAGER OF LINE EQUIPMENT AND WILL REMAIN WITHIN DLCSPM.

6. ALAIN HAS CHOSEN NOT TO HOLD A FORMAL DEPART WITH DIGNITY CEREMONY. HE PREFERS TO HAVE A SIMPLE DINNER WITH FRIENDS AND COLLEAGUES, WHICH WILL BE HELD ON OCTOBER 25, 2018 AT 11:30 AM LA STATION RESTAURANT, 611 SAINT-JOSEPH BLVD IN GATINEAU.
