1. CWO MARTIN DUBÉ WILL RELEASE FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES ON 9 JAN 2019 AFTER MORE THAN 31 YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE COUNTRY, THE COMMUNICATIONS AND ELECTRONICS BRANCH AND MOST NOTABLY, THE BEST TRADE OF ALL, THE LINE TRADE.

2. HE JOINED THE FORCES IN FEBRUARY 1987 AND ONLY HAD TO WAIT THREE LITTLE WEEKS BEFORE HE BOARDED THE INFAMOUS BUS FROM HELL TAKING HIM FROM MONTREAL TO ST-JEAN-SUR-RICHELIEU. HE SUCCESSFULLY KEPT A VERY LOW PROFILE THROUGHOUT RECRUIT SCHOOL BEFORE HE WAS OFF TO CANADIAN FORCES SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATIONS AND ELECTRONICS, KINGSTON, TO ATTEND HIS LINEMAN QUALIFICATION LEVEL 3 COURSE.

3. FOLLOWING A MARATHON 6 MONTH COURSE AND BEING FULLY BILINGUAL, IT WAS ONLY NATURAL THAT HE BE POSTED TO 5 BRIGADE HEADQUARTERS & SIGNALS SQUADRON ( HQ & SIGS), CFB VALCARTIER, TO BEGIN HIS CAREER AS A 052. IT WAS DURING THIS FIRST POSTING THAT HE TRULY DISCOVERED THE JOYS OF MILITARY LIFE: BLACK OUT DRIVING, SLEEPLESS EXERCISES AND COLD RATIONS. CPL DUBÉ SPENT FIVE YEARS IN VALCARTIER, WAS DEPLOYED DURING THE OKA CRISIS AND UPON RETURN FORM HIS QL5 WAS REWARDED FOR HIS EFFORTS WITH A POSTING TO 1 LINE TROOP, KINGSTON IN THE SUMMER OF 1992.

WHILE THERE, HE DEPLOYED WITH ROTO 5 OF OP PALLADIUM, AS NCO IN CHARGE OF THE MULTI-NATIONAL SIGNALS GROUP (MSG) LINE TEAM IN SARAJEVO, BOSNIA-HERZEGOVENA. HE CAME BACK TO FIND OUT SHORTLY THEREAFTER THAT HE WAS PROMOTED TO THE RANK OF SGT AND POSTED TO 5 BDE HQ&SIGS IN THE SPRING OF 2001. STARTING TO SEE A TREND YET?

5. UPON PROMOTION, SGT DUBÉ WAS INFORMED THAT HE WOULD ALSO PERFORM THE DUTIES OF CHARLIE TROOP WARRANT OFFICER AND THUS BEGAN HIS MANAGEMENT CAREER. LOOKING AFTER THE LCIS TECHS AND LINEMEN, HE SOMEHOW SURVIVED THREE YEARS OF INTENSE SOCIAL WORK BEFORE HE WAS PROMOTED YET AGAIN AND POSTED TO THE PROJECTS OFFICE OF 2 DIV AREA SUPPORT UNIT (ASU) VALCARTIER. THIS POSTING WAS EXTREMELY SHORT LIVED, AS HE WAS TRANSFERRED LESS THAN A YEAR LATER TO 76 COMMUNICATIONS GROUP OTTAWA IN THE SUMMER OF 2006.

6. LIVING THE LIFE IN THE NCR, THEN WO DUBÉ LOOKED AFTER THE SCHEDULING AND COORDINATING OF ALL TELECOMM CABLING, MOVES, ADDS AND CHANGES TO THE COMPLEX NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION LAYOUT OF SEVENTY FIVE + BLDGS. THAT EXPERIENCE WAS ALSO SHORT LIVED AND HE RETURNED TO VALCARTIER IN 2008 AS ASSISTANT LINE COMMUNICATIONS SUPERINTENDENT (A/LCS), HOWEVER LAST MINUTE CHANGES TO THE TRADE MENT A LATE PROMOTION TO MWO AND INCREASED RESPONSIBILITIES AS BRIGADE LCS. DURING HIS FINAL STAY IN VALCARTIER, HE DEPLOYED TO KANDAHAR, AFGHANISTAN, AS JOINT TASK FORCE AFGHANISTAN (JTFA) LCS FROM OCT 2009 TO SEPT 2010. BEST DIET EVER!

7. AFTER A FEW MONTHS OF WELL DESERVED LEAVE, MWO DUBÉ LEARNED HE WAS POSTED TO 2 DIV HQ MONTREAL AS DIVISIONAL LCS IN JULY 2011. ALTHOUGH HE ENJOYED LIVING IN THE BIG CITY, WHEN OFFERED A SECOND CHANCE AT A TOUR TO AFGHANISTAN HE QUICKLY ANSWERED THE CALL AND WAS DEPLOYED TO KABUL DURING OP ATTENTION, AS MENTOR TO THE AFGHAN NATIONAL ARMY SIGNALS SCHOOL RSM FROM OCT 2012 TO JULY 2013. WEARING CWO RANKS WHILE SO EMPLOYED ON TOUR, HE WAS OFFICIALLY PROMOTED TO HIS PRESENT RANK IN 2014 UPON POSTING TO OTTAWA AS THE ROYAL CANADIAN AIR FORCE LCS.

8. QUICKLY REALIZING THAT SHARED SERVICES CANADA (SSC) HAD TAKEN OVER MOST DUTIES ASSOCIATED TO THE POSITION, CWO DUBÉ IMMEDIATELY TOOK STEPS TO SECURE THE LAST ENDURING LINE CWO POSITION IN THE CAF. TALKS BETWEEN THE RCAF, THE CANADIAN ARMY AND THE C&E BRANCH LED TO HIS POSITION BEING MOVED IN 2017 TO THE DIRECTORATE OF JOINT COMMUNICATIONS INFRASTRUCTURE SYSTEMS (DJCIS), WHERE HE HAS BEEN EMPLOYED SINCE.

9. CWO MARTIN DUBÉ WAS OFFERED AND ACCEPTED A CIVILIAN POSITION AT DJCIS AND WILL BE EMPLOYED AS SENIOR COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS TECHNOLOGIST STARTING 10 JAN 2019.
