1. ON 31 JULY 2018, WITH OVER 34 YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE TO CANADA, LIEUTENANT-COLONEL DURWIN MCLELLAN WILL RETIRE FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES (CAF).

2. LCOL MCLELLAN ENROLLED IN THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES IN 1984. HIGHLIGHTS OF HIS CAREER INCLUDE COMMAND APPTS AS OC RAPID DEPLOYMENT SQUADRON AT 79 COMM REGT, CO 737 COMM SQN, CO CFS ALERT, AND COMMANDER 70 COMM GP. AS STAFF HE WAS DCO OF THE BC AND ALTA COMM REGTS, G3 73/74 COMM GP, DIMOD 4 STAFF (ADM(IM), COS DIRECTOR GENERAL INTELLIGENCE CAPABILITIES AT CHIEF OF DEFENCE INTELLIGENCE, SIGS FORCE STRUCTURE AND DEVELOPMENT IN DLCI/G6 IN THE CA HQ, AND FINALLY THE CAF INSPECTOR OF COLOURS AND BADGES AT THE DIRECTORATE OF HISTORY AND HERITAGE (DHH).

3. THROUGHOUT HIS CAREER, HE EMBRACED OPPORTUNITIES TO TACKLE MANY DIVERSIFIED AREAS OF EMPLOYMENT AND WORKED WITH EXTRAORDINARY PEOPLE. LCOL MCLELLAN EXTENDS HIS SINCERE THANKS TO THE ENTIRE DND COMMUNITY HE HAD THE PRIVILEGE TO SERVE WITH FOR THEIR FRIENDSHIP, CAMARADERIE AND PROFESSIONALISM.

4. DURWIN AND HIS SPOUSE MAXINE WILL REMAIN IN THE NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION TO RAISE THEIR YOUNG FAMILY. MAXINE WILL CONTINUE WORKING WHILE DURWIN WILL ATTEMPT TO SLAY THE HONEY-DO LIST ON THE HOMEFRONT.
