1. LIEUTENANT-COLONEL ERIC THIBEAULT WILL RETIRE FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES ON 7 JAN 2019 AFTER MORE THAN 26 YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE TO CANADA.

2. ORIGINALLY FROM BAIE-COMEAU (QUEBEC), LCOL THIBEAULT JOINED THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES ON 10 JUL 1992 AND GRADUATED IN 1997 FROM THE ROYAL MILITARY COLLEGE OF CANADA IN KINGSTON WITH A BACHELORS DEGREE IN ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING. HE HAD THE PRIVILEGE TO SERVE IN A WIDE RANGE OF POSITIONS, INCLUDING IN VARIOUS INFORMATION MANAGEMENT (IM) PROJECT DELIVERY CAPACITIES WITHIN THE IM GROUP (OTTAWA) AND THE UNITED-STATES MILITARY SATELLITE COMMUNICATIONS JOINT PROGRAM OFFICE (CALIFORNIA). HE ALSO SERVED AS 3 WING INFORMATION SYSTEMS OFFICER (BAGOTVILLE), AS AN AIR STAFF OFFICER WITH THE ROYAL CANADIAN AIR FORCE (OTTAWA) AND NORTH ATLANTIC TREATY ORGANIZATION (NATO) AIR COMMAND (GERMANY), AS WELL AS 12 WING TELECOMMUNICATION AND INFORMATION SERVICES OFFICER (SHEARWATER). HE FINALLY SERVED AS J6 AMERICAS, AFRICA AND EXERCISES WITH THE CANADIAN JOINT OPERATIONS COMMAND.

3. CAREER HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDED ADVANCING THE DEPARTMENTAL SATELLITE COMMUNICATION PROGRAMME AND DEFENCE RENEWAL INITIATIVES; SUPPORTING THE 3 WING NATO TACTICAL AVIATION EVALUATION; DEPLOYING TO CAMP MIRAGE (2004) AND TO THE INTERNATIONAL SECURITY ASSISTANCE FORCE HEADQUARTER IN AFGHANISTAN (2010); BEING SELECTED AS THE EX RIMPAC 16 COMBINED AIR OPERATIONS CENTER (CAOC) COMMUNICATION DIRECTOR (HAWAII); PLANNING FOR THE PROVISION OF COMMUNICATION AND INFORMATION SERVICES IN SUPPORT OF SEVERAL JOINT OPERATIONS/EXERCISES AND TRAVELLING AROUND THE WORLD WITH HIS FAMILY LEVERAGING TWO OUTCAN OPPORTUNITIES.

4. ERIC WILL BE REMAINING IN THE OTTAWA AREA WITH HIS WIFE, VANESSA, AND THEIR THREE CHILDREN, LEAH, INGRID AND JACOB, WHERE HE WILL ASSUME A PUBLIC SERVICE POSITION WITHIN THE DIRECTOR GENERAL CYBER ORGANIZATION.
