1. ON 13 JUL 2021, LIEUTENENT-COLONEL MARK GIBBS, CD WILL RETIRE AFTER MORE THAN 38 YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES AND THE ROYAL CANADIAN CORPS OF SIGNALS.
2. JOINING THE COMUNICATION RESERVE IN 1983, STARTING AT 763 COMM REGT OTTAWA AS A RADIO TELETYPE OPERATOR (RTOP) AND THE CANADIAN FORCES COMMUNICATIONS COMMAND, LCOL GIBBS TRANSFERRED TO THE REGULAR FORCE AT THE PEMBROKE RECRUITING CENTRE IN 1991 AS A SIGNALS OFFICER.
3. LCOL MARK GIBBS POSTINGS INCLUDE THE CANADIAN AIRBORNE REGIMENT, 74 COMMUNICATION GROUP G3, BASE TELECOMMUNICATIONS OFFICER CHILLIWACK, TRAINING OFFICER 2 CMBG PETAWAWA, 2 RCHA SIG O, LO 3 RCR, OPS O 2 CMBG SIGNAL SQUADRON, DCO 2 ASG SIGNAL SQUADRON, DIRECTORATE OF LAND COMMAND INFORMATION, RMC, BASE COMD CALGARY, OPS O CFS LEITRIM, COS OPS CFIOG, 3 DIVISION G6, CO CFIOG OUTCAN FORT MEADE MARYLAND USA AND COS SIGINT CFIOG.
4. LCOL MARK GIBBS WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL OF THOSE WITH WHOM HE HAS SERVED AND WHO WILL FOREVER BE A PART OF HIS EXTENDED FAMILY. HE WOULD LIKE TO EXPRESS HIS GRATITUDE TO HIS FAMILY, HIS VERY UNDERSTANDING SPOUSE AND THE MENTORS, SUPERVISORS AND COLLEAGUES WHO HAVE SUPPORTED HIM THROUGHOUT HIS CAREER. HE WILL BE FOREVER GRATEFUL.
5. LCOL MARK GIBBS WILL BE STAYING IN THE OTTAWA REGION AND WILL TRANSITIONING TO A PUBLIC SERVICE POSITION WITHIN THE DIRECTOR GENERAL INFORMATION CAPABILITIES FORCE DEVELOPMENT (DGICFD).

Was it just yesterday we were in Budapest…..but that’s a story for another time….Mark you are one of the good ones, I am glad I got to know you for the character guy that you are. I hope you and Ellen enjoy retirement and that the PS doesn’t hollow you out. Take care and enjoy retirement.
It seems not so long ago that you were OC Rad and we were the only two Lts in 763 CommRegt. You have had a distinguished career, and I am glad you will continue within the Signals community. We will have to get together for a lunch when messes and restaurants open up again. Stay safe Mark! VVV
