RETIREMENT – LCOL MARTIN OUELLET, CD, 00341 SIGS

LIEUTENANT-COLONEL MARTIN OUELLET RETIRED FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES ON 15TH FEBRUARY 2022, AFTER MORE THAN 26 YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE.

 

LCOL OUELLET JOINED THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES IN JUNE 1995. HE GRADUATED FROM RMC WITH AN ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING BACHELOR’S DEGREE AND FROM SIGNAL OFFICER TRAINING QUALIFICATION IN 2000. HE OBTAINED A MASTER IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION FROM OTTAWA UNIVERSITY IN 2010 AND GRADUATED FROM COMMAND AND STAFF COURSE WITH THE MARINE CORPS UNIVERSITY IN 2016.

 

FROM 2001 TO 2007, LCOL OUELLET SERVED WITH 5 CANADIAN MECHANIZED BRIGADE GROUP HEADQUARTERS AND SIGNALS SQUADRON AND 5 SERVICE BATTALION IN VALCARTIER. IN 2007, HE DEPLOYED ON OPERATION ATHENA WITH JTF-AFGHANISTAN HEADQUARTERS.

 

PROMOTED TO THE RANK OF MAJOR IN 2008, HE WAS POSTED IN THE NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION AS THE ASSISTANT MANAGER, LAND SOFTWARE ENGINEERING CENTRE (LSEC) WITHIN DLCSPM.

 

IN 2010, LCOL OUELLET JOINED THE INFORMATION MANAGEMENT & TECHNOLOGY STRATEGIC PLANNING TEAM. IN JULY 2012, HE BECAME ASSISTANT CHIEF OF STAFF OF THE NEWLY ESTABLISHED CANADIAN FORCES SHARED SERVICES GROUP.

 

IN 2013, HE WAS APPOINTED OFFICER COMMANDING 1 SQUADRON OF THE CANADIAN SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATIONS AND ELECTRONICS AND LEADS THE MODERNIZATION OF SIGNAL OFFICERS’ TRAINING. HE DEPLOYED ON OPERATION IMPACT IN KUWAIT IN 2015, IMPROVING THE COMMUNICATION INFRASTRUCTURE FOR THE TASK FORCE.

 

PROMOTED LCOL AND POSTED TO THE NATIONAL DEFENSE HEADQUARTERS OTTAWA IN 2016, HIS TEAM FINALIZED THE TRANSITION BETWEEN THE IT SERVICE MANAGEMENT PROJECT AND THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE NATIONAL SERVICE MANAGEMENT OFFICE.

 

LCOL OUELLET DEPLOYED TO SOUTH SUDAN IN DECEMBER 2016 AS CHIEF OPERATIONS FOR THE MILITARY LIAISON TEAM IN THE CAPITAL JUBA. UPON HIS RETURN TO CANADA, HE FACILITATED THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE FORCE DEVELOPMENT TEAM FOR DIRECTOR JOINT CIS WITHIN DIRECTOR GENERAL CYBER.

 

POSTED TO THE CANADIAN ARMY WARFARE CENTRE IN 2018, HE WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE COMMAND, DETECT AND ACT CAPABILITIES. HE THEN JOINED THE CANADIAN ARMY COMMAND AND STAFF COLLEGE (CACSC) AS SIGNALS DIRECTING STAFF FOR THE ARMY OFFICER COURSE AT FORT FRONTENAC.

 

MARTIN, MAJA AND FAMILY WILL REMAIN ACTIVE IN THE KINGSTON AREA AND PLAN TO TRAVEL THE WORLD. PASSIONATE OF REAL ESTATE AND A LICENCED REALTOR, MARTIN WANTS TO GIVE BACK TO THE MEMBERS OF THE DEFENCE AND FIRST RESPONDER COMMUNITIES AS DIRECTOR GENERAL OF MOVING HEROES (MOVINGHEROES.CA). THIS INITIATIVE LINKS FAMILIES OF ACTIVE MEMBERS, CAF RETIREES AND FIRST RESPONDERS TO A CAF VETERAN REAL ESTATE AGENT ACROSS CANADA WHILE SUPPORTING FAMILIES IN NEED VIA COLLABORATING FOUNDATIONS AND CHARITIES.
