RETIREMENT – LUC CHARTRAND

1. LUC CHARTRAND WILL BE RETIRING FROM THE PUBLIC SERVICE ON 07 JULY 22 AFTER COMPLETING 34 YEARS WITHIN THE PUBLIC SERVICE.  

2. LUC JOINED THE PUBLIC SERVICE IN SEPTEMBER 1988, AFTER A SUMMER INTERNSHIP UNDER THE CHALLENGE 88 PROGRAM, A PRECURSOR OF FSWEP.  HE WORKED AS A DIETARY TECHNOLOGIST AT THE NATIONAL DEFENCE MEDICAL CENTRE.  HE TRANSITIONED TO A CAREER IN INFORMATION SYSTEMS IN 1994, STARTING AS AN APPLICATION SUPPORT SPECIALIST FOR THE MEDICAL MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM – MEDMIS PROJECT.  IN 1996, HE WAS TRANSFERRED TO THE CANADIAN FORCES HEALTH SERVICES GROUP HEADQUARTERS WHERE HE SERVED AS APPLICATION SUPPORT SPECIALIST FOR THE DENTAL INFORMATION SYSTEM – DENTIS, GROUP WEBMASTER, HEAD OF KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT AND HEALTH SERVICES APPLICATION ANALYST.   

LUC WORKED ON THE CANADIAN FORCES HEALTH INFORMATION SYSTEM PROJECT STARTING IN 2003 AND TRANSFERRED TO DGIMPD IN 2006, SERVING AS INFORMATION SYSTEMS SECURITY OFFICER UNTIL 2008 AND THEN AS A IMPLEMENTATION MANAGER UNTIL 2012.  AFTER BRIEF ASSIGNMENTS AS MANAGER OF THE DGIMPD PROJECT MANAGEMENT SUPPORT OFFICE AND TIGER TEAM LEAD FOR THE MILITARY PAY MODERNIZATION AND CAPABILITY TRANSFORMATION PROJECT – MPMCT, LUC WAS ASSIGNED TO THE POLAR EPSILON 2 PROJECT – PE2 IN 2012, WHERE HE COMPLETED HIS CAREER AS SYSTEM INTEGRATION LEAD UNTIL 2015, THEN AS BUSINESS MANAGEMENT LEAD.  ALONG THE WAY, LUC HAD THE GREAT PRIVILEGE OF GAINING ADMISSION TO THE ROYAL MILITARY COLLEGE OF CANADA THROUGH THE DIVISION OF CONTINUING STUDIES WHERE HE EARNED A BACHELOR’S OF MILITARY ARTS AND SCIENCE WITH HONOURS IN MILITARY STUDIES. 

3. FOLLOWING RETIREMENT, LUC PLANS TO REMAIN IN THE OTTAWA AREA, CONTINUE HIS SEARCH FOR JUST THE RIGHT HOUSE AND PURSUE CONTRACTING OPPORTUNITIES WHILE INDULGING IN EXISTING HOBBIES, PURSUING NEW ONES AND CONTINUING TO PROMOTE EXCELLENCE IN VOCABULARY AND GRAMMAR.  HE ALSO HOPES TO USE HIS SPARE TIME TO FURTHER DEDICATE HIMSELF TO CARE PROVIDER DUTIES. 

4. LUC IS FORTUNATE THAT HIS RETIREMENT COINCIDES WITH THE END OF THE PE2 PROJECT, A GREAT WAY TO WRAP UP A CAREER.   ANYONE WISHING TO CONVEY BEST WISHES, AND SUITABLE ANECDOTES, IS INVITED TO SEND THEM TO IAN GRANT, [email protected].
