1. MAJOR SARAH-JO DOUCET IS RETIRING ON 31 AUGUST 2021 AFTER 27+ YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE.

2. MAJOR DOUCET JOINED THE PRIMARY RESERVE IN REGINA, SK IN 1993 AS A RADIO-TELETYPE OPERATOR. IN 1994 SHE WAS COMMISSIONED AS A COMMUNICATIONS AND ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING (CELE) OFFICER. MAJOR DOUCET HAS BEEN A MEMBER OF RESERVE COMMUNICATION UNITS IN REGINA, SASKATOON, CALGARY, AND EDMONTON. SHE WAS ALSO SELECTED TO REPRESENT CANADA FOR CIOR IN LILLEHAMMER, NORWAY IN 1996. SHE HAS TAKEN SHORT-TERM CALLOUTS WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND INTERNATIONAL TRADE (DFAIT), AS A TELECOMMUNICATION TRAINER FOR THE ASIA PACIFIC ECONOMIC CONFERENCE (APEC) IN VANCOUVER IN 1997, AND WITH 3RD BATTALION PRINCESS PATRICIA’S CANADIAN LIGHT INFANTRY (PPCLI) IN EDMONTON IN 1999, UNDERSTUDYING THE BATTALION SIGNAL OFFICER. SHE HAS HELD STAFF POSITIONS WITH CANADIAN FORCES NORTHERN AREA / JOINT TASK FORCE NORTH HEADQUARTERS IN YELLOWKNIFE, NT; 746 (CALGARY) COMMUNICATION SQUADRON; 20TH FIELD REGIMENT (RCA) EDMONTON; 41 SIGNAL REGIMENT EDMONTON; 1 HEALTH SERVICES GROUP HEADQUARTERS EDMONTON; AND LASTLY 41 CANADIAN BRIGADE GROUP HEADQUARTERS CALGARY.

3. IN CIVILIAN LIFE, MAJOR DOUCET WAS DIRECTOR CORPORATE AND CLIENT SERVICES FOR AN INTERNATIONAL SECURITY CONSULTING COMPANY IN CALGARY FOR THREE YEARS. IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THAT SHE WAS WITH DFAIT AGAIN, THIS TIME AS THE WIRELESS MANAGER FOR THE G8 SUMMIT IN KANANASKIS IN 2002. MAJOR DOUCET HAS VOLUNTEERED WITH THE CALGARY STAMPEDE EVERY YEAR SINCE 2003. SHE HAS A TEN-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER, JESSI, WHO IS A WELL-SPOKEN, ENERGETIC YOUNG LADY WITH A QUIRKY SENSE OF HUMOUR.

4. MAJOR DOUCET WILL BE RETIRING ON 31 AUGUST 2021. 41 CBG HQ WILL BE HOLDING A DEPART WITH DIGNITY EVENT ON 17 SEPTEMBER 2021 IN CALGARY (EXACT TIMINGS/VENUE TO BE DETERMINED).
