1. MASTER CORPORAL RICHARD ROUSSEL IS RETIRING FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES ON 3 MAY 2021 AFTER 19 YEARS OF SERVICE TO CANADA AND THE CAF. HE ENROLLED ON 28 SEPTEMBER 2001.

2. MCPL ROUSSEL PROUDLY SERVED AS A SIGNALER THROUGHOUT HIS ENTIRE CAREER. MCPL ROUSSEL STARTED HIS TRAINING IN BFC VAL CARTIER; DEPLOYED TO AFGHANISTAN AND UKRAINE; AND SPENT MOST OF HIS CAREER IN THE OTTAWA AND KINGSTON AREAS (10+ YEARS).

3. MCPL ROUSSEL IS ENDING HIS CAREER AS A SIGNALER DIRECTLY SUPPORTING THE COMMANDER OF CANADIAN JOINT OPERATIONS COMMAND (LGEN MICHAEL ROULEAU, AND NOW LGEN CHRISTOPHER COATES).

4. MCPL ROUSSEL IS PASSIONATE ABOUT MILITARY HISTORY AND HERITAGE; UNIT PRIDE AND SYMBOLISM; AND PRIDE IN ONE’S PROFESSIONAL TRADE. ON MAY 4TH 2021, HE WILL START A NEW CHAPTER IN HIS LIFE AND BECOME A CIVILIAN SECURITY ANALYST WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT OF NATIONAL DEFENSE AT HIS FORMER POSTING OF CJOC HQ, AND LOOKS FORWARD TO REWARDING YEARS AHEAD WITH HIS WIFE AND 2 CHILDREN.
