RETIREMENT – MCPL TYLER MILLS, CD – 00109 ATIS TECH

1. MASTER CORPORAL TYLER MILLS WILL RETIRE FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES ON 20 FEB 2022 FOLLOWING 13 + YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE.

2. MCPL MILLS ENROLLED IN THE CAF ON 04 SEPTEMBER 2008, COMPLETING BASIC TRAINING IN BORDEN ONTARIO FOLLOWED BY ATIS TECHNICIAN TRAINING AT CFSCE IN KINGSTON. UPON GRADUATING, MCPL MILLS WAS POSTED TO CFB WINNIPEG. HE WAS EMPLOYED IN THE TELEPHONY SECTION SUPPORTING ALL 17 WING AOR INCLUDING 1 & 2 CAD. JULY 2016, MCPL MILLS WAS POSTED TO CFB DUNDURN AS 2IC OF CIS. THE INCREDIBLE MENTORSHIP HE RECEIVED HERE ENABLED HIM TO DEVELOP EXCELLENT SUPERVISORY SKILLS WITH BOTH MILITARY AND CIVILIAN PERSONNEL. MCPL MILLS RETURNED TO CFB WINNIPEG IN 2019 TO BECOME I/C OF THE QL3 TRAINING SECTION. HE FOUND HE HAD A PASSION FOR THE ATIS TRAINING SYSTEM AND STRIVED TO ENSURE JUNIOR TECHS RECEIVED THE BEST POSSIBLE HANDS ON TRAINING PRIOR TO THEIR QL5A COURSE.

3. IN AUGUST OF 2014, MCPL MILLS WAS ASSIGNED TO A SMALL TAV DEPLOYED TO ROMANIA AND LITHUANIA IN SUPPORT OF OPERATION REASSURANCE. THE MAIN GOAL OF THE TAV WAS TO INSTALL AND BRING ONLINE A DEPLOYABLE PHONE SYSTEM TO BE USED BY THE CANADIAN CONTINGENT.

MCPL MILLS NEXT DEPLOYED SEP 2017 WITH OPERATION CALUMET IN EGYPT, THIS TIME AS A REMOTE SITE TECHNICIAN. FOR THE NEXT 7 MONTHS, HE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO WORK WITH MILITARY MEMBERS FROM AROUND THE WORLD AND TRAVEL THE NORTHERN SINAI IN SUPPORT OF THE MFO.

MCPL MILLS’ THIRD AND FINAL DEPLOYMENT WAS IN NOV 2020 WITH OPERATION IMPACT AND A SMALL CANDIAN CONTINGENT IN ERBIL. DURING THIS TOUR MCPL MILLS HELPED IMPROVE BOTH THE DWAN AND CSNI NETWORKS AND CREATED A PACE PLAN TO ENSURE COMMUNICATIONS WERE ALWAYS AVAILABLE.

4. TYLER WILL BE REMAINING IN WINNIPEG WITH HIS CHILDREN RYKER AND BLAKELEY AND FIANCE BRIANNA. HE WOULD LIKE TO THANK HIS FAMILY AS WELL AS TEAMMATES AND SUPERVISORS FOR THEIR SUPPORT AND MENTORSHIP THROUGHOUT HIS TIME IN THE CAF. THE KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE ACQUIRED WILL BE PIVOTAL AS HE BEGINS A NEW CAREER WITH SSC.
