1. AFTER 27 YEARS OF DISTINGUISHED AND DEDICATED SERVICE, MWO WILSON BILLARD WILL RETIRE FROM THE CAF AND THE SIGINT WORLD ON 19 JUNE 2018.

2. WILSON ORIGINALLY JOINED THE CAF IN CORNERBROOK, NEWFOUNDLAND IN FEBRUARY 1991 AS A COMMUNICATOR RESEARCHER. AFTER COMPLETING BASIC TRAINING AT CFB CORNWALLIS, WILSON THEN COMPLETED HIS TRADES TRAINING AT CFSCE KINGSTON. UPON COMPLETION OF HIS TRAINING, WILSON WAS POSTED TO 770 COMMUNICATION SQUADRON, GANDER, NEWFOUNDLAND. DURING HIS POSTING TO GANDER, WILSON COMPLETED A SIX MONTH TOUR OF CFS ALERT. DURING 1995 APS, WILSON WAS POSTED TO 771 COMMUNICATION SQUADRON. IN 1998, WILSON WAS POSTED TO CFEWC AND THEN TO CFS LEITRIM FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 2003. WHILE AT CFS LEITRIM, HE DEPLOYED TWICE IN SUPPORT TO OP APOLLO AND OP ATHENA, FOR SIX MONTHS.

3. MWO BILLARD WAS THEN SELECTED FOR A HARDSHIP POSTING TO ALASKA IN 2008 WHERE HE REMAINED UNTIL ONCE AGAIN RETURNING TO CFS LEITRIM IN 2012. UPON RETURN TO THE NCR, WILSON HELD EVERY POSSIBLE POSITION WITHIN OPERATIONS FROM TROOP MWO, SSM, MISSION MANAGER AND ACTING OPERATIONS CHIEF. IN JANUARY 2017, WILSON ONCE AGAIN DEPLOYED OVERSEAS FOR SIX MONTHS TO KUWAIT IN SUPPORT OF OP IMPACT. UPON HIS RETURN FROM DEPLOYMENT, WILSON WAS POSTED FOR THE FINAL TIME TO CANADIAN FORCES INFORMATION OPERATIONS GROUP HEADQUARTERS WHERE HE REMAINED UNTIL HIS RETIREMENT.

4. WILSON WILL BE REMAINING IN THE OTTAWA AREA WHERE HE HAS SECURED EMPLOYMENT WITHIN THE PUBLIC SERVICE. WILSON HAS REQUESTED A QUIET FAREWELL AND THEREFORE WE WILL BE MEETING FOR BREAKFAST ON 31 MAY 2018 AT DUNN’S RESTURANT, 2679 BANK STREET, OTTAWA AT 0800HRS.
