RETIREMENT – SERGEANT LARRY WILSON, SIG TECH 00385-01

1. AFTER 30 YEARS OF LOYAL RESERVE FORCE SERVICE TO CANADA SGT LARRY WILSON WILL BE RETIRING FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES ON 31 OCTOBER 2022.

2. SGT WILSON WAS BORN IN CALGARY, AB, AND JOINED THE CAF AT THE AGE OF 17 IN MAY OF 1992 AS A RIFLEMEN WITH THE PRINCESS OF WALES OWN REGIMENT HERE IN KINGSTON. EARLY 1995 SGT WILSON TRANSFERRED TO THE SIGNALS BRANCH INTO THEIR NEWEST TRADE, LAND COMMUNICATION INFORMATIONS SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN (LCIS) WITH RESERVE ELECTRONIC WARFARE SQUADRON, KINGSTON.  AT THE ONSET OF Y2K, SGT WILSON WAS “RECRUITED” IN 1998 BY THE AIRFORCE AND TRANSFERRED TO 1 WING HQ IN KINGSTON TO ASSIST THEM WITH THIS ISSUE. ONE YEAR LATER, VOLUNTEERED TO THEN TRANSFER TO 400 TACTICAL HELICOPTER SQUADRON IN BORDEN TO MANAGE THEIR HELPDESK, FOR WHICH SGT WILSON SETTLED DOWN FOR 12 YEARS.  DURING THAT TIME, SGT WILSON DEPLOYED THREE TIMES INTERNATIONALLY (TWICE TO BOSNIA AND ONCE TO AGHGANISTAN) AND SUPPORT SEVERAL DOMESTIC OPERATIONS (OP PODUIM AND OP CADANCE). SGT WILSON THEN RETURNED TO KINGSTON IN 2010, BACK TO 1 WING HQ.  IN 2013 SGT WILSON WOULD THEN TRANSFER INTO WHAT WOULD BE HIS LAST POSITION WHICH WAS AT THE CANADIAN ARMY SIMULATION CENTRE AS THEIR FACILITY MANAGER.

3. SGT WILSON WILL BE SWITCHING OVER TO THE PUBLIC SERVICE AND CONTINUING TO SUPPORT DND AND THE CAF BY WORKING AT SMC KINGSTON AT THEIR HELPDESK.
