RETIREMENT – SGT CHAD DALEY, CD – 00109 ATIS TECH

1. SERGEANT CHAD DALEY WILL RETIRE FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES (CAF) ON 14 MARCH 2022 AFTER 20 YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE TO CANADA.

2. SHORTLY AFTER FINISHING A DIPLOMA IN COMPUTER PROGRAMMING FROM NEW BRUNSWICK COMMUNITY COLLEGE IN 2001, SERGEANT DALEY FOUND HIMSELF ON A BUS HEADING TO CFS ALDERSHOT WHERE HE WOULD COMPLETE BASIC TRAINING AFTER JOINING THE RESERVES AS AN INFANTEER WITH THE 2ND ROYAL NEW BRUNSWICK REGIMENT B COY. THE FOLLOWING YEAR IN 2002, HE MADE THE SWITCH TO ATIS TECH AND FOUND HIMSELF ON ANOTHER BUS, THIS TIME GOING TO KINGSTON, WHERE HE IMMEDIATELY COMMENCED HIS EDUCATION AT SAINT LAWRENCE COLLEGE. HE GRADUATED FROM THERE WITH A DIPLOMA IN ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING AND WAS POSTED SHORTLY AFTER TO COLD LAKE IN 2004. WHILE IN COLD LAKE, HE WORKED THE MAJORITY OF THE TIME IN THE TELEPHONE MAITNENANCE SHOP BEFORE BEING POSTED TO GREENWOOD IN 2009. SHORTLY AFTER ARRIVING TO HIS NEW UNIT SGT DALEY WAS DEPOYED OVERSEAS FROM LATE 2009 TO SUMMER 2010 TO CAMP MIRAGE AND KAF AFGANISTAN WHERE HE WAS AWARDED THE GENERAL CAMPAIGN STAR SOUTH WEST ASIA. AFTER RETURNING FROM DEPLOYMENT HE WORKED IN THE CLASSIFIED SYSTEMS MAINTENANCE AND RADIO MAINTENCE SECTIONS. IN 2013 SGT DALEY WAS PROMOTED TO MASTER CORPORAL AND POSTED TO 3 CDSG SIGNAL SQUADRON IN EDMONTON WHERE HE WAS IC OF THE CONSOLIDATED SERVICE DESK AND LATER IC OF THE GROUND ENTRY STATION. IN 2017 HE WAS PROMOTED TO HIS CURRENT RANK AND IN 2018 HE WAS POSTED TO CFSCE IN KINGSTON WHERE HE WAS A POET COURSE DIRECTOR AND AN ATIS QL6A INSTRUCTOR.

3. THROUGHOUT HIS CAREER SGT DALEY ALWAYS ENJOYED MAINTAINING A HIGH LEVEL OF PHYSICAL FITNESS. WHILE AT 3 CDSG IN HE COMPLETED MOUNTAIN MAN IN 2015, 2016 AND 2017, AND IN 2019 WHILE AT CFSCE, HE LED A SCHOOL TEAM FOR IRON WARRIOR IN PETAWAWA.

4. SGT DALEY WILL BE REMAINING IN THE KINGSTON AREA WHERE HE WILL IMMEDIATLEY BEGIN ENJOYING SOME MUCH DESERVED REST AND RELAXATION ALONG WITH HIS WIFE CANDICE AND SON ETHAN.

5. SERGEANT DALEY WISHES TO PASS ON THE FOLLOW MESSAGE: THE LAST 20 YEARS HAVE FLOWN BY WITH LOTS OF UPS AND DOWNS, BUT ALL RESULTING IN GREAT TIMES BECAUSE OF ALL THE GREAT PEOPLE. FOR ALL MY FORMER STUDENTS, YOU HAVE LOTS OF CHALLENGES AHEAD OF YOU, BUT YOU PICKED A GREAT FAMILY TO BE A PART OF. STAY CLASSY, JIMMIES, AND THANKS FOR ALL THE MEMORIES.

6. A DEPART WITH DIGNITY FUNCTION IS PLANNED FOR 11 MARCH 2022 FROM 1300 TO 1500 AT THE WO’S AND SGT’S MESS IN KINGSTON. IN THE EVENT OF IMPOSED RESTRICTIONS ON GATHERINGS, THIS EVENT MAY HAVE TO BE POSTPONED.
