1. SERGEANT COREY FORMAN, CD WILL RETIRE FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES ON 20 MAR 2022 AFTER MORE THAN 17 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO CANADA.

2. COREY ENROLLED IN THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES ONE COLD DAY IN JANUARY 2005 IN HALIFAX AS A NAVAL COMMUNICATOR. DURING HIS CAREER AS A NAVCOMM, HE WAS POSTED TO HMCS HALIFAX, HMCS TORONTO, AND MARITIME OPERATIONS GROUP 5 (MOG5). HE QUICKLY CAME TO REALIZE THAT AS MUCH AS HE LOVED THE SEA, THE SEA DID NOT LOVE HIM. AFTER 4 YEARS AS A NAVCOMM, COREY REMUSTERED TO ATIS TECH, COMPLETED HIS POET AND QL3 COURSE IN KINGSTON, THEN WAS PROMPTLY POSTED BACK TO HALIFAX IN N6 NETWORK SERVICES. THIS TIME AT N6 WAS ONE OF THE HIGHLIGHTS OF HIS CAREER AND HIS LIFE, AS HE CAME TO WORK WITH SOME GREAT PEOPLE AND MADE SOME AMAZING FRIENDS.

3. THE FUN DIDN’T STOP THERE. AFTER TAKING THE NETWORK DEFENCE ANALYST (NDA) COURSE IN 2013 AND COMPLETING THE CFSCE CYBER CHALLENGE, COREY REALIZED HIS PASSION FOR CYBER AND MANAGED TO GET A POSTING TO OTTAWA. WHILE AWAITING HIS CLEARANCE, COREY WORKED IN THE CSI SHOP AND SNS IN LEITRIM SUPPORT SQUADRON, THEN FINALLY GOT POACHED TO WORK AT CFNOC IN 2015. IT WAS HERE THAT COREY WAS ABLE TO SPREAD HIS CYBER WINGS AND BEGAN WORKING IN DIGITAL FORENSICS. THIS OPPORTUNITY LEAD TO ANOTHER HIGHLIGHT OF COREY’S CAREER: IN 2017 COREY BECAME A PLANK OWNER AS HE BECAME ONE OF THE FIRST CYBER OPERATORS IN THE CAF.

4. ADDITIONAL HIGHLIGHTS OF COREY’S CAREER ARE THE PARTNERSHIPS HE FOSTERED AND EXPERIENCE HE GAINED WHILE WORKING ALONGSIDE THE RCMP AND OFFICE OF THE PRIVY COUNCIL, CREATING AND ADVANCING CAPABILITIES IN THE ROLE OF CYBER DEFENSE AND DIGITAL FORENSICS, AND THE OPPORTUNITY TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE EDUCATION OF FUTURE DIGITAL FORENSIC INVESTIGATORS AND CYBER OPERATORS THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITIES OF LAW ENFORCEMENT, DEPARTMENT OF NATIONAL DEFENCE, AND OTHER FEDERAL AGENCIES.

5. COREY WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL OF THOSE WITH WHOM HE SERVED, FRIENDS, MENTORS, PEOPLE WITH PATIENCE, AND THOSE WILLING TO SUPPORT HIM AS HE WORKED TO DEVELOP PEOPLE AND CAPABILITIES. ON TOP OF ALL THAT, HE WOULD ALSO LIKE TO THANK ALL OF THE MEMBERS OF THE CFS LEITRIM ALL RANKS MESS COMMITTEE, ON WHICH HE SERVED FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS. ESPECIALLY LORI TAPP-FOSTER, WHOSE PATIENCE AND PASSION FOR SUPPORTING THE MEMBERS OF THE STATION HAS NOT GONE UNNOTICED.

6. COREY WOULD ALSO LIKE TO THANK HIS AMAZING WIFE, MORGAN, WITHOUT WHOM HE WOULD NOT HAVE SURVIVED THIS LONG. AND TO HIS NOW FOUR-AND-A-HALF YEAR OLD SON, THANK YOU FOR SEEING ME OUT THE DOOR EACH MORNING AND MAKING SURE I GOT HOME SAFE, AND THANKS FOR PUTTING UP WITH ALL THE VELCRO ON MY UNIFORM. DEFINITELY A STICKY SITUATION.

7. UPON RETIREMENT, COREY WILL TRANSITION TO THE PUBLIC SERVICE AND CONTINUE SERVING CANADA, JUST IN MORE COMFORTABLE CLOTHING. HE WILL REMAIN IN THE NCR WITH HIS WIFE MORGAN, AND THEIR SON ELLIS.

8. TO COMMEMMORATE HIS CAREER, A PRIVATE CEREMONY WILL BE HELD AT THE LEITRIM ALL RANKS MESS ON 17 MARCH 2022. FUNNY ANECDOTES, BEST WISHES, AND ANY INTERESTING MACROS AND SHELLCODE MAY BE SENT TO [email protected]
