1. SERGEANT DEAN YOUNG RETIRED FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES ON 02 JULY 21 AFTER 21 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO CANADA.

2. DEAN ENROLLED WITH THE CANADIAN ARMY IN JULY 2000 AND COMPLETED HIS QL3 TRAINING IN 2001. HE HAS SERVED IN VARIOUS OPERATIONAL AND TACTICAL UNITS INCLUDING CFS LEITRIM, JHQ KINGSTON, 21 EW REG, AND CFNOC. THROUGHOUT THIS TIME HE ALSO DEPLOYED ON OP ATHENA 2010.

3. THE HIGHLIGHTS OF DEAN’S CARRER ARE THE EXPERIENCE HE GAINED WHILE EMBEDDED WITHIN THE RCR IN AFGHANISTAN AND THE OPPORTUNITY TO WORK ALONG SIDE SOME OF THE BEST PROFESSIONALS HE’S EVER MET DURING HIS TENURE AT 21 EW REG.

3. DEAN WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL OF THOSE WITH WHOM HE SERVED, AND IS THANKFUL FOR THE LIFELONG FRIENDSHIPS DEVELOPED OVER HIS 21 YEARS IN UNIFORM. DEAN HAS A LONG LIST OF FAMILY, FRIENDS, MENTORS, SUPERVISORS AND COLLEAGUES THAT HAVE SUPPORTED HIM THROUGHOUT HIS CAREER. HE WILL BE FOREVER GRATEFUL FOR THEIR COLLECTIVE GUIDANCE, SUPPORT AND MUTUAL RESPECT.

4. UPON RETIREMENT, DEAN HAS TAKEN UP A JOB IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR WHERE HE’LL REMAIN IN OTTAWA WITH HIS WIFE, DANA AND THEIR THREE CHILDREN, HAYLEE, PALMER AND RYAN.
