RETIREMENT – WARRANT OFFICER STEVE WINDSOR, CD, 00109 – ATIS TECH

1. AFTER MORE AND 33 YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE, WARRANT OFFICER STEVE WINDSOR’S LAST DAY OF WORK WITH THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES WILL BE 9 JAN 2023.

2. WO WINDSOR ENROLLED IN THE CAF IN JUN 1986 UNDER THE ROTP PROGRAM AS A MARINE ENGINEERING OFFICER CANDIDATE BUT RELEASED AFTER 6 MONTHS. ENCOURAGED BY HIS FATHER, STEVE RE-ENROLLED IN JUL 1990 AND COMPLETED POET AND RADIO TECHNICIAN TRAINING AT THE CANADIAN FORCES SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATIONS AND ELECTRONICS AND WAS THEN POSTED TO BASE TELECOM AT CFB CHATHAM IN OCT 1991. AFTER BEING POSTED TO CFB GREENWOOD IN NOV 1995, HIS TRADE CHANGED THREE TIMES AS A RESULT OF MOSART TO SIS IN 1996, LCIS IN 2000 AND FINALLY TO ATIS IN 2001. SUBSEQUENT POSTINGS INCLUDED OTTAWA (765 TM TP) IN 2005, HALIFAX (NEWPORT CORNER) IN 2008, TRENTON (ATESS) IN 2012, WINNIPEG (2 CAD) IN 2016, AND FINALLY OTTAWA (CFNOC) IN 2019.

3. WO WINDSOR IS GRATEFUL FOR ALL THE WONDERFUL FRIENDSHIPS DEVELOPED DURING HIS CAREER AND ESPECIALLY FOR HIS CHILDREN WHO ENDURED MULTIPLE POSTINGS BEFORE MOVING OUT ON THEIR OWN. STEVE IS LOOKING FORWARD TO MOVING BACK EAST TO NOVA SCOTIA AFTER RETIREMENT, SPENDING TIME CLOSER TO FAMILY, AND DISCOVERING NEW ADVENTURES.
