1. WO J. STEFANKO WILL BE RETIRING FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES WITH 35 PLUS YEARS ON 12 MAR 2019.
2. WO STEFANKO JOINED THE CAF ON THE 28TH MAR 1983 IN SUDBURY ONTARIO. HE PROCEEDED TO CFRS CORNWALLIS NS TO COMPLETE HIS BASIC TRG. HE THEN WENT ON TO CANADIAN FORCES SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATIONS AND ELECTRONICS IN KINGSTON ON FOR HIS QL 3’S AND GRADUATED AS A RADIO OPERATOR. UPON COMPLETION HE WAS POSTED TO 1 CMBG HQ & SIG SQN CALGARY AB.
3. DURING THIS TIME HE COMPLETED HIS FIRST TOUR OP SNOWGOOSE IN CYPRUS IN 1986. UPON RETURN HE WAS PROMOTED TO CPL. IN AUG OF 1987 HE WAS POSTED TO 5TH CANADIAN DIVISION SUPPORT GROUP SIGNAL SQUADRON AT CFB GAGETOWN. WHILE THERE HE DID HIS SECOND TOUR WITH TASK FORCE GOLAN HEIGHTS IN 1988/1989.
4. IN 1990 HE WAS THEN POSTED TO 408 TACTICAL HELICOPTER SQUADRON IN EDMONTON AB.
5. JUL 1995 SAW HIM POSTED TO CFB ESQUIMALT FOR A 1 YEAR FRENCH COURSE. UPON COMPLETION HE WAS POSTED TO 5 CMBG HQ & SIG SQN. IN APR 1998 HE DEPLOYED ON MINURCA WHICH WAS WITH THE CANADIAN CONTINGENT CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC.
6. IN AUG 2000 HE WAS POSTED BACK TO 1 CMBG HQ & SIG SQN EDMONTON AB. PROMOTED TO MCPL IN 2001. 15 MAR – 15 OCT 2003 HE ONCE AGAIN DEPLOYED. THIS TIME WITH TASK FORCE BOSNIA HERZOGOVINA AS A DET COMMANDER ON MT GOLA. HE DEPLOYED WITH THE JOINT TASK FORCE AFGHANISTAN FROM 2 FEB – 15 NOV 2006. UPON HIS RETURN HE WAS PROMOTED TO SGT.
7. APRIL 2007 SAW HIM POSTED TO 1 COMBAT ENGINEER REGIMENT AS THE SIGNALS SECTION COMMANDER. POSTED BACK TO 1 CMBG HQ & SIG SQN JUL 2010 AS THE LFCDA SECTION COMMANDER/CUSTODIAN.
8. IN AUG 2015 HE WAS POSTED TO CMTC WAINWRIGHT AS THE CHIEF COMM OP AND WAS PROMOTED TO CURRENT RANK DEC 2015.
9. WO STEFANKO WILL RETIRE IN WAINWRIGHT WITH HIS DAUGHTER WHERE HE HAS SECURED A CIVILIAN DND POSITION AT CMTC.
