1. WARRANT OFFICER JOE ALTEEN WILL BE RETIRING FROM THE CAF ON 20 JUN 18 WITH 14 ½ YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE TO CANADA, THE CAF, AND THE ROYAL CANADIAN CORPS OF SIGNALS.

2. WO ALTEEN ENROLLED IN CORNER BROOK AS A SIG OP ON 5 SEP 2003. UPON COMPLETION OF HIS TRAINING, HE BEGAN HIS CAREER AT 2 CANADIAN MECHANIZED BRIGADE GROUP HEADQUARTERS AND SIGNAL SQUADRON IN PETAWAWA. DURING HIS TIME IN PETAWAWA, HE COMPLETED TWO DEPLOYMENTS TO KANDAHAR, AFGHANISTAN, ONE WITH 1 RCR, CHARLES COY, AND ONE WITH THE TF COMD TAC. UPON COMPLETION OF HIS SECOND DEPLOYMENT, HE WAS POSTED TO THE COUNTER-RADIO CONTROLLED IMPROVISED EXPLOSIVE DEVICE TRAINING CELL AT THE CANADIAN FORCES SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATIONS AND ELECTRONICS. IN 2013, HE WAS POSTED TO THE CANADIAN FORCES JOINT SIGNAL REGIMENT (CFJSR). WHILE AT CFJSR, HE DEPLOYED ON OP NUNALIVUT IN CAMBRIDGE BAY, NU AND TO THIRD LOCATION DECOMPRESSION IN CYPRUS.

3. WO ALTEEN WILL BE RETIRING IN GRAND FALLS-WINDSOR, NEWFOUNDLAND WITH HIS WIFE JODI, AND THEIR TWO BOYS – TRISTAN AND JACKSON. HE PLANS ON COMPLETING HIS EDUCATION, AND PURSUING A CAREER IN BUSINESS.

4. A DWD FUNCTION WILL BE HELD TO HONOUR WO ALTEEN, ON TUESDAY 19 JUNE 18 AT 1230 HRS AT THE SGT AND WO MESS, PANJWAI ROOM, KINGSTON, ON.
