1. WARRANT OFFICER MATHIEU POULIN WILL RETIRE FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES ON 20 MAY 2021 WITH ALMOST 18 YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE.

2. HE JOINED THE CANADIAN ARMY RESERVE IN MAY 2001. AFTER COMPLETING BASIC MILITARY TRAINING IN DUNDURN, SASKATCHEWAN, HE BECAME A MEMBER OF THE 73TH COMM REGIMENT IN BEAUPORT, QUEBEC WHERE HE WAS FIRST INTRODUCED TO COMBAT NET RADIO SYSTEMS. SHORTLY AFTER ACHIEVING HIS TRADE QUALIFICATION OF ARMY COMMUNICATION AND INFORMATION SYSTEM SPECIALIST, HE VOLUNTEERED AND DEPLOYED ON HIS FIRST OPERATIONAL TOUR IN ISRAEL AND SYRIA (OP DANACA) IN 2003.

3. IN JULY 2006, HE DECIDED TO BECOME A REGULAR FORCES MEMBER AND GOT POSTED TO CFJSR IN KINGSTON, ONTARIO. DURING THIS TIME, HE WORKED AS PART OF SEVERAL TEAMS INCLUDING: IT SUPPORT, RADIO REBROADCAST, HF COMMUNICATION DETACHMENT, THEATRE ACTIVATION TEAM AND DISASTER ASSISTANCE RESPONSE TEAM. HIS TIME AT CFJSR WAS HIGHLIGHTED BY TWO OPERATIONAL TOURS IN AFGHANISTAN, COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS SUPPORT FOR THE VANCOUVER OLYMPICS SECURITY FORCE, HF AND SAT COMMS EXERCISE SUPPORT IN THE ARCTIC, AND MANY REGIMENT-LEVEL EXERCISES.

4. IN JULY 2012, HE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO JOIN CANSOFCOM, UNDER WHICH HE WOULD SERVE THE REMAINDER OF HIS CAREER. MATHIEU OCCUPIED MANY POSITIONS WITHIN THE COMMAND, HE SUPPORTED TACTICAL AND STRATEGIC LEVEL COMMUNICATIONS DURING COUNTLESS TRAINING EXERCISES AND OPERATIONAL DEPLOYMENTS. HE WAS ALSO AFFORDED THE OPPORTUNITY AND THE CHALLENGE OF TEACHING ON MANY CAREER COURSES AT CANSOFCOM TRAINING CENTER (CSOTC).

5. AS OF MAY 20TH, MATHIEU WILL CONTINUE WORKING IN THE FIELD OF COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS AS A PUBLIC SERVANT. HE WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL THOSE HE HAD THE HONOUR TO SERVE WITH THROUGHOUT THE YEARS AND GIVE A SPECIAL THANKS TO HIS FAMILY FOR THEIR SUPPORT AND UNDERSTANDING.
