1. WARRANT OFFICER RICHARD POIRIER WILL RETIRE FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES ON 18 JANVIER 2021 WITH 26 YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICES TO CANADA, THE CAF, AND C&E BRANCH AS A LINEMAN.

2. RICHARD ENROLLED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES IN 1980 AS A LINEMAN. IN 1988, HE LEFT THE CAF TO PURSUE HIS PERSONAL PROJECTS. IN 2002 HE JOINED ONCE AGAIN AS A LINEMAN. WO POIRIER WAS DIRECTLY POSTED TO CANADIAN FORCES JOINT SIGNAL REGIMENT (CFJSR) IN KINGSTON, ON. DURING THIS POSTING, RICHARD WAS ASSIGNED ON MULTIPLE LINE INSTALLATION PROJECTS THROUGHOUT CANADA. HE WAS ALSO DEPLOYED TO BOSNIA, GOLAN HEIGHTS AND SYRIA DURING DOMESTIC OPERATIONS. IN JAN 2006, RICHARD WAS POSTED TO THE CANADIAN FORCES SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATIONS AND ELECTRONICS (CFSCE) AS AN INSTRUCTOR (MCPL). PROMOTED TO THE RANK OF SGT IN AUG 2009, RICHARD WAS ASSIGNED TO 1 CMBG (HQ & SIG SQN), EDMONTON, AB. DURING HIS TIME OUT WEST, RICHARD DEPLOYED TO KANDAHAR, AFGHANISTAN JUN TO NOV 11. IN AUG 2012, HE WAS POSTED TO LOCAL LINE WORK CENTER (LLWC) 3 WING BAGOTVILLE AS THE SECTION COMD UNTIL JUL 16. AFTER HIS FOUR YEARS IN BAGOTVILLE, RICHARD WAS PROMOTED TO THE RANK OF WO AND WAS ASSIGNED TO CFJSR UNTIL JUNE 18. AFTER HIS TIME IN KINGSTON, RICHARD WAS POSTED TO 77 LINE REGT, VALCARTIER AS THE TROOP WO UNTIL JULY 20 WHERE HE BEGAN HIS TRANSITION TOWARD THE CIVILIAN LIFE.

3. RICHARD WAS SUPPORTED BY HIS SPOUSE AND FAMILY THROUGHOUT HIS CAREER. NOW BEING GRANDPARENTS, RICHARD AND HIS SPOUSE LYNE WILL REMAIN IN QUEBEC, STE- GABRIEL DE VALCARTIER, WHERE THEY WILL ENJOY THEIR HOBBIES SUCH AS HUNTING & CAMPING AND TAKE CARE OF THEIR 2 SONS, PATRICK & PIERRE ALEXANDRE, AND THEIR GRANDSON TRISTAN.

4. AS PER RICHARD’S REQUEST, AN INFORMAL DEPART WITH DIGNITY WILL BE HELD IN VALCARTIER AT A FUTURE DATE, WHEN THE ONGOING RESTRICTIONS DUE TO THE PANDEMIC WILL BE LOWERED.

Hey Rich congrats
Remember when we were in Fort Drum on exercise. We worked like dogs running up and down the road laying WD. But you and I always made a good time of it. The trade is losing a great guy and lot of knowledge. Enjoy retirement you deserve it!

Congratulations on your retirement from the Lineman family. I retired a while ago after 34 years as a Lineman. No regrets. Keep in touch with with the Line family as they will always be there for you.
