1. ON 6 JULY 2018, AFTER 39 PLUS YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE TO CANADA, CWO FENTON WILL RETIRE FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES (CAF), THE COMMUNICATIONS & ELECTRONICS BRANCH AND THE ROYAL CANADIAN CORPS OF SIGNALS.

2. CWO FENTON JOINED THE CAF IN OCT 1979. OFF THE STREETS OF OTTAWA HE BEGAN HIS JOURNEY, A WORD HE HAS BECOME QUITE FAMILIAR WITH IN HIS LAST ROLE AS THE ACISS SGT-MWO CAREER MANAGER. AFTER COMPLETING BASIC IN CORNWALLIS, DRIVER TRAINING IN BORDEN AND HIS QL3 IN KINGSTON HE COMPLETED 3 YEARS AT THE 1ST CANADIAN SIGNALS REGIMENT. IT WAS THE OFF TO 764 COMM SQN OTTAWA FOR 4 YEARS AND ANOTHER 3 YEARS WITH 450 TAC HELICOPTER SQUADRON WHERE HE HAS FOND MEMORIES WITH HIS EXPLOITS IN THE CHINOOK SQN. WITH A SHORT STINT IN 2 SIGS HE WENT ON TO COMPLETE 4 YEARS IN 2 RCHA AND RETURNED TO THE JOINT SIGNALS REGIMENT IN KINGSTON SERVING IN 3 & 4 SQN AND 1 YEAR IN 763 COMM REGT. IT WAS THEN BACK TO CFNOC IN OTTAWA FOR 4 YEARS AND A RETURN TO PETAWAWA 3 RCR AND ANOTHER YEAR IN 2 RCHA. UPON RECEIVING HIS MWO’S HE RETURNED TO 764 COMM SQN AS THE SQN SSM. AFTER 2 YEARS OF SERVICE IN TUNNEY’S PASTURE AND A FEW TOURS UP NORTH HE WENT TO DLCSPM AS THE NESS CCO AND LATER ON AS THE A/CWO. UPON PROMOTION TO CWO HE COMPLETED 2 YEARS IN THE CANADIAN ARMY DOCTRINE TRAINING CENTRE AND VOLUNTEERED TO COMPLETE HIS LAST YEAR AS THE SGT-MWO CAREER MANAGER IN OTTAWA AT THE CARLING CAMPUS WHERE 42 YEARS AGO HE SERVED AS A SECURITY GUARD IN ONE OF THE 2 BUILDINGS THAT WERE ON THE GROUND AT THAT TIME. TOURS INCLUDE GOLAN HEIGHTS ISREAL, OP PRUDENCE AFRICA, HUMANITARIAN MISSION AFRICA, KABUL AFGHANISTAN AND COUNTLESS EXERCISES ACROSS CANADA THE USA, GERMANY AND NORWAY.

3. THERE ARE TOO MANY FRIENDSHIPS AND POSITIVE MOMENTS TO SHARE IN THIS MESSAGE. NONETHELESS CWO FENTON WISHES TO HIGHLIGHT THAT ALL OF HIS ROLES AND SUCCESSES OVER THE LAST 39 YEARS HAVE ALL BEEN ATTRIBUTED TO THE MANY GREAT CF SOLDIERS, PEERS AND SUPERVISORS THAT HAVE ASSISTED HIM ALONG THE WAY, THANK YOU ALL.

4. CWO FENTON AND HIS WIFE ALEXANDRA WILL RESIDE IN DEEP RIVER WHERE THEY WILL ENJOY BBQ’S BY THE POOL SIDE, GOLF, FISHING, HUNTING AND POSSIBLY SOME PART TIME WORK AFTER A LONG REST TO BALANCE OUT THE BOOKS.

5. A DEPART WITH DIGNITY LUNCHEON WILL BE HELD AT THE OTTAWA WO & SGT’S MESS STARTING AT 11:30 ON 29 JUNE 2018. THE COST WILL BE $25 PER PERSON.
