On Sunday, 03 March 2019 at 1330 hours, a few friends will be gathering at the Army-Navy-Airforce (ANAF) for a memorial to our dear friend Chad O’Quinn.
Corporal O’Quinn was killed on the 3rd of March 2009 along with two other members of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team that he was assigned to. Their Bison armoured vehicle was hit by an IED 10 kilometres North-West of Kandahar City. Chad’s team was returning from a successful operation and were en route to deal with another IED when their vehicle struck the explosive.
Chad was a stoic individual who took tremendous pride in being a member of the Canadian Armed Forces and the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals. A loving son, Chad cherished his family. Throughout his two tours in Afghanistan he telephoned, e-mailed, and messaged his family each and every day. He highly valued his faith, his health, and his loved ones. He challenged life and encouraged others to do the same. A proud member of the Signal Branch, he served with dedication and believed in the value of his contribution to the mission in Afghanistan.
This event is intended for all individuals, friends, and family – both and serving and retired – within the Kingston Area that would like to share a toast in the memory of our friend Chad.
