Cpl (Ret’d) Fred Schumann

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Corporal (ret’d) FRED SCHUMANN, age 59, of Parkhill ON, formerly of London ON. Fred passed away peacefully Monday, May 20, 2019 at Victoria Hospital, London Health Sciences Centre, London.

Born in Kitchener, Ontario, he was a son of the late Marie Elisabeth (Inge) and Frederick Schumann. Fred was a retired Rad Op Corporal of the Canadian Armed Forces, serving from 1979-1996. Following his military career, Fred was employed with the YMCA of London and Craigwood Youth Services of Ailsa Craig, ON. Fred was a long-standing member and former President of the Canadian Institute of Management.

He is sadly missed by his wife of 17 years, Virginia (Taylor); son Dustin (Bryan) of London, ON; step-father of Cheryl (Sean) Trudgeon of Sarnia, ON; Ryan (Kathy) Filip of Parkhill, ON; and step-grandfather to Mason and Jacob Trudgeon of Sarnia, ON. Dear brother to Lucie (David) Kew of England, Armin (Amani) of London, ON and Trish (Peter) Urschel of Kitchener, ON and uncle to Alexander and Elanna Urschel of Kitchener, ON. And he will be dearly missed by co-workers, family and many friends.

An afternoon of remembrance will be held at The Royal Canadian Legion, Victory Branch 317, 311 Oakland Ave., London ON, June 1, 2019 at 2pm.
The Legion Order of Service is to be held at 2:30 pm.
