Chief Petty Officer 1st Class Jean Gabriel Allard, MMM, CD, RCN (Retired) (1956 – 2016)

After a courageous battle with cancer, we announce with great sadness the passing of Jean Gabriel Allard on Saturday 19 November 2016.

Jean was born in Mistassini, Quebec on 26 February 1956. He enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces on 16 July 1975 as a Communicator Research operator at the Canadian Armed Forces Recruiting Centre in Chicoutimi, Quebec.  Jean served more then 38+ years in the Forces before retiring on 3 February 2014. He served at CFS Leitrim (5x) Ottawa, CFS Masset, BC. 771 Comm Rsch Sqn Ottawa, Medina, Texas USA, at the CF Recruit Centre in Quebec City, DGIMO and COS IM Gp Ottawa, and finally at CFIOG HQ Ottawa where he was seconded to the DGMS Office at CSE. In addition, Jean has completed six tours at CFS Alert, Nunavut, a deployment to Banja Luka, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and one to Kabul, Afghanistan.

He was predeceased by his parents Albert Allard and Joan Ferguson. He is survived by his beloved wife Sandra Des Rivières and daughter Isabelle (Mathew MacDonald), as well as brothers and sisters: Donald (Sylvie Gendreau), Doris (Fabien St-Gelais), Carole, Marc-André (Diane Thibeault), late Guy (Line Dumais) and Diane (André Savard). Fondly remembered by several nieces, nephews and friends.

Family and friends are invited to visit Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue (East of Vanier Parkway), Friday 25 November 2016 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. Funeral service will be held on Saturday 26 November at 9:30 a.m. in the Sacred Space of Beechwood.
