CWO Hugh John McInnis, CD, RCCS (Retired)

05 Dec 20

Born in Mariposa Twp., Ontario on 4 December 1929, Hugh passed away peacefully at Fairmount Home on Saturday, 5 December 2020 at age 91. He is survived by his daughter Karin and sister Beatrice (Rideout). Predeceased by his wife Berta (Kuder), brothers Carlisle and Bruce, and parents Alex and Mabel (Langman). He will be fondly remembered and missed by his friends and family.

Hugh joined the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals in 1949 and served in Korea and Egypt. After many postings in Canada and Germany, he retired as CWO from the Communications and Electronics Branch (Kingston) in 1976 and began a second career as a teacher with Correctional Services Canada and at several high schools until retiring in 1989. That left him free to pursue his passions for travel and skiing with Berta and/or Karin. He never met a mountain he didn’t like. An accomplished raconteur and history buff, Hugh was a welcome guest at any party.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation and interment have taken place. In Hugh’s memory, you may make a donation to the Military Communications and Electronics Museum Foundation or a charity of your choice.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Cataraqui Cemetery and Funeral Services. Please feel free to share your memories of Hugh online at
