Leo Angus Nix
Leo Angus Nix – 84, of Coldbrook, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2018 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late Fred and Verna MacKay. He retired from the Royal Canadian Army with 27 years of service, serving as a Paratrooper and Telecommunications Specialist with the Signal Corps. Leo enjoyed a second career with Michelin Canada, both in Granton and Waterville, where he worked in the maintenance department. He was a long time member of the Glooscap Curling Club and a member of the Annapolis Valley Ridge Runners Snowmobile Club. Leo was a loving and supportive father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Leo was an avid sports fan and fully supported his children and grandchildren in their many athletic endeavours. He is survived by daughter, Jocelyn Nix (Randy Lake), Cheverie; sons, James “Jim” (Colleen) Nix, New Glasgow; Blair Nix (Michelle Phinney), Coldbrook; sisters, Betty Peacock, Toronto, ON; Una (Donald) Wallace, Thorburn, NS; half-brother, John Black, Sackville, NB; grandchildren Cory (Lynne) Nix, Kingston, ON; Krista Nix, Kelowna, BC; Mallory Amirault, Vancouver; great-grandchildren, Jarrett Phinney, Jadyn Phinney and long time friend, Lois Fraser, Coldbrook. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Darlene. Visitation will take place from 6-8 p.m., on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, Reverend Sterling Gosman officiating. Interment will take place in the Berwick Cemetery, Kings County. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
