Maj (Ret’d) Clifford Hearnden
Hearnden, Clifford Lloyd – Died peacefully in his 82nd year at Carleton Place Hospital Ontario, on the morning of Thursday October 25 2018 after a fight with Cancer. He bravely and stoically accepted his fate. His lifelong partner Ellen Hearnden of 61.5 years, was by his side until his last day. Cliff is survived by his wife Ellen Hearnden (nee Stephenson), his son Stanley Hearnden, and daughters Joanne Leavoy, Janice Loyst and Joyce Kerridge. Cliff often spoke of the wonderful life he was blessed with and that he had no regrets. His last wishes were for cremation, as he simply wanted to go out of this world knowing,” I did it my way”. He was very proud of his life accomplishments and will be sorely missed by his family and by those who knew him. Any donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
An RCCS Soldier Apprentice aka Green Monster in Kingston Vimy Barracks class E-6 Troop graduated in 1954 went on to a rewarding and successful 35 year career of many postings across Canada including Europe (Germany). These posting highlights saw him jumping out of perfectly serviceable aircraft while in the Airborne Regiment, writing at the rank of Sergeant the very first Canadian Supplement Voice Procedure Manual, and as a Major after being commissioned from the ranks (CFR) years earlier, completion of trade analysis work at (DMOS) for which he would have influence for the amalgamation of the Radio Operator and Teletype trades years later. He deployed on missions to the Congo and Damascus Syria. These are Just a few highlights of many accomplishments for Cliff’s career in the CAF.
