Maureen Dukes
MAUREEN CAROLINE DUKES On Thursday, October 11 the angels came down and rescued my darling wife from her life of endless pan and suff ering. Our family will be forever indebted to the staff of Trillium Lodge who helped make Maureen’s last 30 days since entering Trillium very comfortable with their very professional empathetic & loving care. We will not forget how terrifi c Nicole and Bobby were with her and her husband Bill especially on her last day. Maureen’s life these last couple of years at home was greatly enhanced by the wonderful assistance provided by VIHA home support staff and we will forever be thankful for everything that they did for her. Our family’s lives were greatly enriched these past 37 years since my beloved Maureen joined our family exposing us to her design/decorating/fashion and cooking skills. Maureen is survived by husband Bill (and their beloved Maggie) and his four children; daughters Deborah and husband Al Fleming of Richmond, B.C., Catherine Wyle and her children Drew and Caitlin of Bracebridge, Ontario, Amy Marshall and husband Brett of Burlington, Ont. and their children Charlie and daughter Gray, son David Dukes and wife June of Sidney, B.C. She is also survived by her sister Eveline Smyth and favorite niece Jacqueline Spino and husband Michael of Hamilton, Ontario. Special thanks to Dr. Byron Ham of Surrey, B.C.; Dr. Wm. Colborne and Dr. P. Ochoa both of Nanaimo B.C. and Dr. P. Juralowicz of Parksville, B.C. As per Maureen’s wishes there will be no service locally. However, husband Bill will be taking Maureen’s ashes back to her beloved Ulster for service there. Bill will be accompanied by niece Jacqueline in the spring.
