Mike Watts, Ret’d Sergeant
With profound sadness we inform you that Mike Watts (June 20, 1958 — October 5, 2022), MAN ISSO & Retired Sergeant passed away October 5th after his brave struggle with colon cancer. In his 40-year career with the CAF and DND Mike touched the lives of so very many. Mike served in uniform in Petawawa as an LCIS Tech with 3 RCR and the then 2 ASG Sig Sqn. He was deployed to Afghanistan with Op Athena Roto 0 in 2003. After retiring from the CAF, Mike joined the Public Service in Ottawa before transferring back to Petawawa and 4 CDSG Sig Sqn to take the MAN ISSO role which he performed for 10 years. He was a knowledgeable and diligent professional, a generous giver of his time and resources, a community volunteer, and a loving family man.
Mike was fiercely proud of the Canadian Forces and a vocal champion of our work and contributions to Canada and the world. His own contributions, especially his relentless optimism and disarmingly friendly disposition will be sorely missed.
