Master Warrant Officer Robert Cranford, MMM, CD, RCAF (Retired)

It is with profound sadness that the family of Robert Cranford announces his passing on Wednesday, 4 November 2020, at the age of 53.

Robert served over 30 years in the Canadian Armed Forces and had many different experiences in many different countries, however, no matter where he went, he was always proud to call Newfoundland & Labrador his home, where the beauty, peace and serenity of nature could be appreciated best of all.

Robert joined the CAF in 1986 as a Radio Technician (Rad Tech), eventually becoming an ATIS Tech in 2004, and was employed in a number of locations over his career.  He was posted to CFB Trenton and Gander, as well as CFS St John’s.  He worked with 403 TacHel in Gagetown NB as well as serving OutCan, flying with the AWACS based out of Oklahoma.  He had a few return postings within the units in CFIOG which is where he would finally retire in 2016 taking public service employment within the CFIOG HQ.  Robert deployed to Afghanistan and was also awarded the Order of Military Merit – Members (MMM) in 2001.

Robert and Pam, his wife of 34 years, were very passionate about hockey with one of their proudest moments being when their only son Ryan, in 2018, was named Captain of the Ontario Major Junior A Hockey Team, the Kingston Frontenacs.  Robert will be sorely missed by his family, friends and coworkers.

While Pam and Ryan are continuing to address details, they are requesting privacy at this time. Also to add, while the family greatly appreciates the meals, etc. that have been sent their way so far, they have run out of space so no further donations of this sort are needed but thanks to all for their considerations.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date in Newfoundland & Labrador. Donations in Robert’s memory may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma society of Canada and a Memorial Blood Drive will also be held at a later date in Newfoundland & Labrador.
