Terence Ignatius (Terry, T.I.) Lawrie, Capt, CD (Ret’d)

LAWRIE, (CD) Terence Ignatius (Terry, T.I.) – Born on July 31, 1943, in Toronto. Following a lengthy illness, he passed away at KHSC in his 80th year with his wife by his side on Monday, June 26, 2023. Loving husband of Boniface (Bonnie) (nee Germaine) for 54 years. He is survived by his brother, Robert. Predeceased by his parents, John and Mary (nee O’Connell), brothers Donald, James, and John and sisters Frances, Katherine, and Rosemarie. Terry will be sadly missed by nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

 

Terry was a fiercely proud member of the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals from the time he was selected to enlist as an Apprentice Signaller in 1960 (9th Intake, Echo 32), through his disability release in 1979, and until his passing: “Once a Signaller, Always a Signaller!” He served in Kingston (1962 – 1965 and 1970 – 1979, Cyprus (1965 – 1966), and Germany (1967 – 1970). After retirement, Terry worked for a Canada Post subcontractor and for the Corps of Commissionaires.

 

Thanks to Burton Thompson, Direct Cremation Services, for his very kind and compassionate assistance. Cremation has taken place.

 

A funeral Mass to be officiated by Padre M. Burke will be held on Tuesday, July 18, at 11 a.m., at Holy Family Chapel, 35 Lundy’s Lane, CFB Kingston (in the Personnel Married Quarters (PMQ) area). Food and beverage to follow, thanks to kind assistance from family, friends, and Chapel volunteers.

 

Thanks also to Dr. Brian Farnell, Dr. Murray Matangi, Ms. Christine Cipolla, the doctors of KHSC, Ms. Melodie Bowes, Ms. Marsha Mair, the staff of Veterans Affairs Canada, Frontenac Paramedic Services, and all the staff of Connell 3 and Davies 4 ICU for their professionalism, consideration, sense of humour, and unlimited kindness.
