1. COLONEL COLIN LACHANCE WILL RETIRE FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES (CAF) ON 2 JULY 2019 AFTER 29 YEARS OF LOYAL SERVICE TO CANADA, THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES, THE CANADIAN ARMY, AND THE COMMUNICATIONS AND ELECTRONICS BRANCH.

2. COLONEL LACHANCE ENROLLED IN THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES IN 1990 IN SASKATOON. HE ATTENDED ROYAL ROADS MILITARY COLLEGE (RRMC) VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA, FOR TWO YEARS AND TRANSFERRED TO ROYAL MILITARY COLLEGE OF CANADA (RMC) KINGSTON, ONTARIO, WHERE HE GRADUATED IN 1994 WITH A BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN ENGINEERING AND MANAGEMENT.

3. AT THE END OF HIS CLASSIFICATION TRAINING AT THE CANADIAN FORCES SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATIONS AND ELECTRONICS IN KINGSTON, ONTARIO, LIEUTENANT LACHANCE SERVED AS BRAVO TROOP COMMANDER IN 1 SQUADRON, 1ST CANADIAN DIVISION HEADQUARTERS AND SIGNAL REGIMENT IN KINGSTON, ONTARIO. IN NOVEMBER 1995, LIEUTENANT LACHANCE WAS POSTED TO 731 COMMUNICATIONS SQUADRON IN SHILO, MANITOBA, WHERE HE SERVED AS BASE INFORMATION SYSTEMS OFFICER.

4. UPON PROMOTION TO CAPTAIN IN 1997, HE WAS POSTED TO 1ER BATAILLON ROYAL 22E RÉGIMENT IN VALCARTIER, QUÉBEC, WHERE HE SERVED AS BATTALION SIGNAL OFFICER FOR THREE YEARS INCLUDING A SEVEN-MONTH DEPLOYMENT IN 1999 TO BOSNIA-HERZEGOVINA AS BATTLE GROUP SIGNAL OFFICER FOR ROTATION 5 OF OPERATION PALLADIUM. IN 2000, CAPTAIN LACHANCE WAS POSTED TO THE DIRECTOR LAND COMMAND SYSTEMS PROGRAM MANAGEMENT (DLCSPM) IN THE NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION AS FIELDING OFFICER FOR THE CANADIAN ARMY’S TACTICAL COMMAND, CONTROL AND COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS.

5. IN NOVEMBER 2002, CAPT LACHANCE RETIRED AND WORKED AS A CONSULTANT FOR ADGA REMAINING IN DLCSPM. HE TRANSFERRED TO THE PRIMARY RESERVE FORCE AND SERVED FOR 8 MONTHS AS THE 33 BRIGADE HEADQUARTERS G6 IN OTTAWA.

6. IN JULY 2003, CAPT LACHANCE TRANSFERRED BACK IN THE REGULAR FORCE, WAS PROMOTED TO MAJOR UPON RE-ENROLMENT AND POSTED TO THE DIRECTOR ARMOURED VEHICLES PROGRAM MANAGEMENT (DAVPM) AS SENIOR COMMUNICATIONS ENGINEER FOR THE LIGHT ARMOURED VEHICLE PROJECT MANAGEMENT OFFICE (PMO LAV) FOCUSED ON THE LAV FORWARD OBSERVATION OFFICER (ARTILLERY) AND LAV ENGINEER VARIANTS. FROM 2005 TO 2007, MAJOR LACHANCE ATTENDED THE UNIVERSITY OF OTTAWA GRADUATING WITH A MASTER’S DEGREE IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (MBA). UPON COMPLETION OF HIS MBA, MAJOR LACHANCE WAS POSTED TO HIS SPONSORING ORGANIZATION, THE DIRECTOR DEFENCE INFORMATION MANAGEMENT PLANNING AS A SENIOR ANALYST.

7. IN SPRING 2008, MAJOR LACHANCE DEPLOYED TO AFGHANISTAN FOR SIX MONTHS AS THE CJ6 OPERATIONS OFFICER IN THE INTERNATIONAL SECURITY ASSISTANCE FORCE HEADQUARTERS (ISAF HQ) IN KABUL. UPON HIS RETURN FROM AFGHANISTAN, MAJOR LACHANCE WAS TRANSFERRED TO BECOME EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT TO THE MAJOR-GENERAL CHIEF OF STAFF FOR INFORMATION MANAGEMENT GROUP.

8. PROMOTED TO LIEUTENANT-COLONEL IN 2010, HE WAS POSTED TO THE CANADIAN OPERATIONAL SUPPORT COMMAND HEADQUARTERS (CANOSCOM HQ) AS J3 OPERATIONS OFFICER OVERSEEING OPERATIONAL SUPPORT TO THREE MAJOR MISSIONS INCLUDING THE MISSION TRANSITION TASK FORCE AFGHANISTAN, OPERATION MOBILE AND OPERATION LOBE AS WELL AS OPERATIONAL SUPPORT HUBS IN GERMANY, CYPRUS AND KUWAIT. DURING HIS TENURE AS OPERATIONS OFFICER, LIEUTENANT COLONEL LACHANCE COMPLETED THE UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS COMMAND AND STAFF COLLEGE DISTANCE EDUCATION PROGRAM INCLUDING A RESIDENCY AT THE MARINE CORPS UNIVERSITY IN QUANTICO, VIRGINIA.

9. IN 2012, LIEUTENANT-COLONEL LACHANCE WAS POSTED TO THE DIRECTOR GENERAL INFORMATION MANAGEMENT OPERATIONS AS OPERATIONS AND PLANS OFFICER WITHIN THE J6 COORDINATION SECTION AND IN 2015, LIEUTENANT-COLONEL LACHANCE TOOK COMMAND OF CANADIAN FORCES STATION LEITRIM.

10. PROMOTED TO COLONEL IN 2017, HE WAS POSTED WITHIN ADM (IM) AS THE DIRECTOR STRATEGIC COMMUNICATION SERVICES WHICH BECAME DIRECTOR JOINT COMMUNICATIONS AND INFORMATION SYSTEMS (DJCIS), SHORTLY THEREAFTER UNDER THE DIRECTOR GENERAL CYBERSPACE.

11. COLONEL LACHANCE AND HIS SPOUSE, GILBERT GHANTOUS, ARE PLANNING TO REMAIN IN THE OTTAWA AREA, WHERE COL LACHANCE WILL PURSUE HIS NEXT CAREER.

12. A DEPART WITH DIGNITY CEREMONY WILL TAKE PLACE IN HIS HONNOR AT THE LEITRIM ALL RANK MESS LOCATED AT 3454 LEITRIM RD, OTTAWA, ONTARIO ON 25 JUNE 2019 AT 1130HRS.
