1. MASTER CORPORAL CAROL DESROSIERS WILL RETIRE FROM THE CAF ON 6 SEP 18 AFTER MORE THAN 22 YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE TO CANADA.

2. CAROL ENJOYED A FULL AND DIVERSE CAREER, HAVING WORN ALL THREE ENVIRONMENTAL UNIFORMS AND SERVED IN SEVERAL DIFFERENT OCCUPATIONS. CAROL WAS A NAVAL ELECTRONIC SENSOR OPERATOR, ARMY LOGISTICS OFFICER, AIR NAVIGATOR/AIR COMBAT SYSTEMS OFFICER, AND FINALLY A COMMUNICATOR RESEARCH OPERATOR. SHE ALSO SPENT 13 MONTHS DOING ON THE JOB TRAINING AT NDHQ AT AIR PUBLIC AFFAIRS. STARTING HER CAREER AS A NCM, SHE WAS ACCEPTED INTO THE UNIVERSITY TRAINING PLAN NON COMMISSIONED MEMBERS PROGRAM IN 2003 AND ATTENDED THE ROYAL MILITARY COLLEGE OF CANADA IN KINGSTON WHERE SHE GRADUATED IN 2008. AFTER AN ACADEMIC FAILURE AT 1 CANADIAN FORCES FLYING TRAINING SCHOOL IN WINNIPEG, SHE REMAINED DEDICATED TO THE CAF AND ACCEPTED AN OCCUPATIONAL REASSIGNMENT TO COMMUNICATOR RESEARCH OPERATOR.

3. DURING HER CAREER, CAROL’S POSTINGS INCLUDED HMCS COWICHAN, HMCS HURON, MARPAC, HMCS REGINA, HMCS VANCOUVER, RMC IN KINGSTON, 1 CFFTS IN WINNIPEG, RCAF HQ IN OTTAWA AND FINALLY CFS LEITRIM. AS PART OF HER AIR TRAINING, SHE FLEW ONBOARD SEA KING, AURORA, HERCULES, GROB AND DASH 8 GONZO. WITH THE ROYAL CANADIAN NAVY, SHE TRAVELLED TO WARM LOCATIONS ON THE PACIFIC OCEAN. WHILE AT RMC, CAROL WAS SELECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN A TOUR OF WWI AND WWII BATTLEFIELDS IN FRANCE. WHAT CAROL WILL REMEMBER MOST FROM HER CAREER ARE THE INSPIRING AND EXTRAORDINARY PEOPLE WITH WHOM SHE HAS SERVED.

4. IT IS WITH GREAT PRIDE THAT CAROL IS SAYING GOODBYE TO HER REGULAR FORCE CAREER, ALTHOUGH SHE WILL NOT BE LEAVING DND AND THE CAF COMPLETELY. CAROL IS PLANNING ON TRANSFERRING TO THE PRIMARY RESERVE AS AN OFFICER IN THE CADET INSTRUCTOR CADRE WHERE SHE WILL SHARE HER KNOWLEDGE WITH THE ROYAL CANADIAN AIR CADETS AS A STAFF MEMBER OF A LOCAL SQUADRON. IN ADDITION, CAROL HAS ACCEPTED A CIVILIAN POSITION WITH DND AND WILL BE REMAINING IN OTTAWA WITH HER TWO CHILDREN, JOHN AND VICTORIA. IN HER SPARE TIME, CAROL HOPES TO KEEP BUSY WITH MULTIPLE PERSONAL GOALS SUCH AS GETTING HER MASTER’S DEGREE, TO KEEP DOING TRIATHLONS AND RUNNING CANADA ARMY RUNS, LEARNING HOW TO PLAY THE PIANO AND SO MUCH MORE.

5. CAROL’S DEPART WITH DIGNITY WILL BE HELD AT THE CFS LEITRIM ALL RANKS MESS ON 21 AUG FROM 1330 TO 1530. SHE WOULD BE DELIGHTED IF THOSE WHO HAVE WORKED OR STUDIED WITH HER COULD ATTEND. A PRESENTATION COMMEMORATING CAROL’S CAREER WILL BE GIVEN AT HER DWD.
