1. THE TIME HAS COME AND WO RON TOST WILL RETIRE FROM ACTIVE SERVICE ON 8 JAN 2019 AFTER 38 YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE CROWN.

2. RON JOINED THE SERVICE 6 NOV 1979 AND AFTER A FEW DAYS TO GET USED TO THE IDEA, JUMPED ON THE OLD ACADIA LINES BUS TO CFB CORNWALLIS TO BEGIN BASIC TRAINING.

3. AFTER COMPLETING BASIC RON SPENT A FEW EVENTFUL DAYS IN CFB BORDEN WAITING FOR BUNK SPACE TO OPEN IN KINGSTON. UPON COMPLETION OF TRADES TRAINING AS A RADIO TECHNICIAN (221) AT CFSCE, HE HEADED TO BEAUTIFUL CFB CHILLIWACK BC, (FEB 1981), HE THEN SLOWLY WORKED HIS WAY BACK ACROSS THE COUNTRY.

4. HE STARTED IN CFB MOOSEJAW SASK (1985) BEFORE HEADING HOME TO NOVA SCOTIA AND CFB GREENWOOD (1989), DURING WHICH TIME HE COMPLETED A 6 MONTH TOUR AT CFS ALERT (1992). THEN FOR A CHANGE OF PACE HE HEADED TO CFB GAGETOWN (1994) AS AN SIS TECHNICIAN (225), AND AFTER A MEMORABLE TOUR THERE, HE RETURNED FOR A SECOND STINT AT GREENWOOD AND AN ENVIRONMENTAL CHANGE TO THE AIR FORCE (1999) AND ATIS TECH (0109). DURING THIS POSTING, HE COMPLETED A NATO DEPLOYMENT TO BOSNIA HERZEGOVINA 2001-2002. ON RETURN FROM DEPLOYMENT, ANOTHER TRIP TO BC WAS IN THE CARDS, LANDING HIM ON VANCOUVER ISLAND AT CFB COMOX (2002).

5. 2007 SIGNALLED THE MOVE TO OTTAWA WHERE HE WORKED IN VARIOUS AREAS OF ADM (IM) AND CURRENTLY DG CYBER, WHERE HE WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT DND, HAVING ACCEPTED A PUBLIC SERVICE POSITION BEGINNING 9 JAN 2019.

6. HE PLANS TO CONTINUE HITTING THE LINKS WHENEVER POSSIBLE AND, MOST IMPORTANTLY, ENJOYING HIS TWO GRANDCHILDREN.

7. NO FORMAL DWD WILL BE HELD.
