On 9 April 2021, Maj Elmar Alberto Pinto Canas received the American Joint Service Achievement medal from LGen Mark Schwartz, the U.S. Security Coordinator (USSC) to Israel and the Palestinian Authority. Maj Pinto Canas distinguished himself through exceptionally meritorious achievement from 17 Nov to 8 Dec 2020. He went above and beyond to enable the entire international community and key security partners to virtually participate in the Palestinian Security Sector Working Group. His efforts proved critical to the success of this meeting and the continued progress of the USSC Campaign Plan. The distinct accomplishments of Maj Pinto Canas reflect great credit upon himself, the Office of USSC, the CAF, and Canada.
