1. CAPT A.J. MONTGOMERY WILL BE RETIRING FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES ON 6 AUG 2018 AFTER 37 YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE.

2. THE EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME STARTED IN 1976 WHEN ALLAN JOINED THE ROYAL CANADIAN AIR CADETS IN PEMBROKE ONTARIO, SUMMER CAMPS AWAY FROM THE FAMILY GAVE HIM THE TASTE OF ADVENTURE THAT STARTED EVERYTHING. AFTER COMPLETING HIGH SCHOOL HE DECIDED TO JOIN THE LOCAL MILITIA UNIT, THE LANARK AND RENFREW SCOTISH REGIMENT ON 25 JUNE 1981. HIS MILITIA TIME PREPARED HIM WELL FOR ARMY LIFE, HE PARTICIPATED IN HIS FIRST RV (RV85) AND OFTEN TRAINED WITH SSF SIGS AND 1 RCR. AFTER COMPLETING HIS ISSC COURSE IN 1985 HE REALIZED THAT A TRADE WAS THE WAY TO GO AND ON 23 OCT 1986 HE TRANSFERRED TO REGULAR FORCES AND WAS OFF TO CFSCE IN KINGSTON ONTARIO TO START HIS POET AND TEL TECH TRADE TRAINING.

3. ALLAN WAS ALWAYS INVOLVED IN COMPETITIONS, AIR CADETS DRILL AND SHOOTING TEAMS, MILITIA SKILLS AT ARMS AND RIFFLE TEAMS, CFSCE SKILLS AT ARMS AND SOCCER TEAMS. HOWEVER HIS TRUE ADVENTURES STARTED ONCE HE LEFT CFSCE FOR HIS FIRST POSTING TO PETAWAWA. SOME SAY THAT ALLAN SPENT MORE TIME TRAINING AND COMPETING THAN ON THE WORKBENCH. HE COMPETED IN PETAWAWA IRONMAN, NIJMEGEN MARCH, NUMEROUS ADVENTURE TRAININGS, HOCKEY, SOFTBALL, SOCCER AS PLAYER AND REFEREE, BIATHLON, AND PRETTY MUCH ON ALL UNIT COMPETITIVE TEAMS. HIGHLIGHTS WERE PLAYING ON THE SHAPE HOCKEY TEAM IN BELGIUM, BALL HOCKEY IN CLYDE RIVER NUNAVUT, SUNDAY MORNING HOCKEY IN SKOPJE FYROM AND MEETING ALL THE WONDERFUL LIKE MINDED PEOPLE THROUGHOUT HIS CAREER.

4. ALLAN SPENT MOST OF HIS CAREER IN PETAWAWA WITH STOPS IN KINGSTON, BELGIUM AND FINALY OTTAWA. WAS HONOURED TO HAVE SERVED AS SSM FOR 2 ASG SIG SQN AND RSM OF TASK FORCE HUNTSVILLE FOR G8 SUMMIT IN 2008. ALONG THE WAY HE ALSO HAD THE PRIVILEDGE OF EXTENDED STAYS IN ALERT, BOSNIA, 1St GULF WAR SAUDI ARABIA, IRAQ, AND KOSOVO. HIS CAREER HIGHLIGHTS WERE PRIMARILY ASSOCIATED WITH ALL OF THE OUSTANDING PEOPLE HE MET ALONG THE WAY. ALLAN WILL BE STAYING IN GATINEAU WITH LYNE AND HAS ACCEPTED A POSITION WITH DLCSPM.

5. WE WISH CAPT MONTGOMERY THE BEST OF LUCK FOR HIS NEXT CAREER. A DWD CEREMONY WILL BE HELD 29 JUNE 2018 AT RESTAURANT LA STATION 611 BLVD SAINT-JOSEPH GATINEAU STARTING AT 11:30.
