1. AFTER 10 YEARS OF DEDICATED AND LOYAL SERVICE, CAPT ANTHONY THOMPSON WILL BE RETIRING FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES (CAF) ON 07 MAY 2018.
2. CAPT THOMPSON ENROLLED IN THE CAF AFTER GRADUATING HIGH SCHOOL IN 2007 AS A COMMUNICATIONS AND ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING OFFICER (CELE (AIR)). AFTER COMPLETING BASIC TRAINING, CAPT THOMPSON ATTENDED THE ROYAL MILITARY COLLEGE OF CANADA WHERE HE GRADUATED IN 2012 WITH A BACHELOR DEGREE IN COMPUTER SOFTWARE ENGINEERING. AFTER GRADUATION, HE WAS POSTED TO 17 WING WINNIPEG WTISS FOR OJT. DURING THIS TIME HE SPENT 10 WEEKS IN GAGETOWN FOR THE BASIC MILITARY OFFICER QUALIFICATION (BMOC). AFTER COMPLETING HIS CELE(AIR) TRAINING IN 2013 HE WAS PROMOTED TO LIEUTENANT AND POSTED TO OTTAWA WHERE HE WORKED AT SHARED SERVICES GROUP (SSG) PROVIDING 2ND LINE BLACKBERRY SUPPORT WHILE MIGRATING TO BES 5. IN 2014 HE ACCEPTED A POSITION AS THE DEPUTY PROJECT DIRECTOR FOR THE CANADIAN FORCES ELECTRONIC WARFARE SUPPORT SYSTEM (CFEWS) PROJECT AT CANADIAN FORCES INTELLIGENCE COMMAND (CFINTCOM). DURING FALL 2015, HE WAS GIVEN AN OPPORTUNITY TO WORK AT THE CANADIAN FORCES NETWORK OPERATIONS CENTRE (CFNOC) AS A PLANS OFFICER FOR 6 MONTHS AND IN THE SUMMER OF 2016 HE WAS PROMOTED TO CAPTAIN AND OFFERED THE POSITION OF FORENSICS OFFICER AT CFNOC. IN THE SPRING OF 2017 HE MOVED INTO THE CYBER DEFENCE OPERATIONS OFFICER POSITION WHERE HE LED THE COORDINATION OF DEFENSIVE CYBER OPERATIONS WITHIN DND/CAF, INCLUDING LEADING 2 CYBER DEFENCE DEPLOYMENTS TO OP IMPACT AND OP REASSURANCE.
3. CAPT THOMPSON AND HIS WIFE BRITTANY WILL BE RETURNING TO THEIR HOMETOWN OF WEYBURN, SASKATCHEWAN TO START A UAV REMOTE SENSING BUSINESS.
4. CAPT THOMPSON HAS REQUESTED AN INFORMAL FUNCTION ON 27 APRIL 2018 STARTING AT NOON AT LONE STAR TEXAS GRILL, 2880 GIBFORD DR., OTTAWA.
