1. CAPTAIN CYNTHIA URQUHART RETIRED FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES ON 30 OCTOBER 2020 AFTER SERVING 30+ YEARS OF LOYAL DEDICATED SERVICE TO CANADA.

2. CYNTHIA JOINED THE CAF ON 17 NOVEMBER 1989 AS A RADIO TECHNICIAN. AFTER A JOYFUL STAY AT SUNNY CFRS CORWALLIS, CYNTHIA MOVED ON TO THE CANADIAN FORCES SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATIONS AND ELECTRONICS IN KINGSTON, ONTARIO TO UNDERTAKE POET AND RADIO TECHNICIAN TRAINING. UPON COMPLETION OF HER RADIO TECH TQ3, CYNTHIA WAS POSTED TO 1 CDHSR IN KINGSTON. IN 1995, CYNTHIA WAS POSTED TO CFB GAGETOWN AND AFTER A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME, DECIDED TO RETURN TO KINGSTON TO WORK ON SOME SCHOOLING AT ST. LAWRENCE COLLEGE, AS A CIVILIAN. AFTER 6 MONTHS AWAY, CYNTHIA REJOINED THE CAF AS AN LCIS TECHNICIAN AND WAS POSTED TO 2 RCHA, PETAWAWA IN THE SUMMER OF 1997. CYNTHIA REMAINED IN PETAWAWA FROM 1997 UNTIL 2010, MOVING FROM 1 RCHA (CPL), TO 1 CDN FD HOSP (MCPL), RCD (SGT) AND FINALLY 2 ASG SIGNALS SQN (WO). WHILE POSTED TO 2 CMBG IN PETAWAWA, CYNTHIA DEPLOYED TO BOSNIA, TURKEY WITH THE DART, AND AFGHANISTAN. POSTED BACK TO KINGSTON IN 2010, CYNTHIA WENT TO 21 EW REGT WHERE SHE WAS PROMOTED TO MWO AND DEPLOYED ONCE AGAIN TO AFGHANISTAN, AS THE TASK FORCE J6 FOREMAN OF SIGNALS. IN LATE 2012, UPON HER RETURN FROM AFGHANISTAN, CYNTHIA WAS POSTED TO DLCSPM IN OTTAWA AND EARLY IN 2013 MWO URQUHART TOOK OVER AS THE 764 COMM SQN SERGEANT-MAJOR, WHERE SHE ENJOYED LEADING A GREAT SQN.

3. UPON BEING COMMISSIONED AS A SIGNALS OFFICER IN 2015, CYNTHIA WAS POSTED TO DLR IN OTTAWA AND IN 2017 WAS POSTED TO 76 COMMUNICATION REGIMENT AS THE REGIMENTAL OPERATIONS OFFICER.

4. THROUGHOUT HER CAREER, CYNTHIA MADE MANY GOOD FRIENDS THROUGH TRAINING AND COMPETITION. HER YEARS IN PETAWAWA SAW HER TRAIN AND COMPETE IN THE 2 CMBG IRONMAN (IRON WOMAN), WHERE SHE FOSTERED MANY WONDERFUL RELATIONSHIPS. CYNTHIA WAS ALSO PART OF A GROUP OF FIERCE WOMEN IN THE EARLY 2000S WHO ADVOCATED FOR FEMALE PARTICIPATION IN EVERY PETAWAWA COMPETITION. SHE WAS PROUD TO CARRY THE OLYMPIC TORCH THROUGH CFB PETAWAWA FOR THE WINTER 2010 OLYMPICS.

5. CYNTHIA IS GRATEFUL FOR ALL OF THE FANTASTIC PEOPLE SHE HAS WORKED WITH THROUGHOUT HER CAREER. SHE IS ALSO VERY THANKFUL FOR THE ONGOING SUPPORT OF HER FAMILY: GARY JUSTUS (SIGNALS CAPT, RETIRED), MAJ JUSTIN URQUHART (CELE), CAPT LAURA MECHEFSKE (MD) AND RYAN JUSTUS.

6. UPON RETIRMENT, CYNTHIA WILL BE REMAINING IN THE OTTAWA AREA AND ENJOYING HER FREE TIME TO PURSUE INTERESTS, CONTINUE HER EDUCATION AND SPEND TIME WITH HER FAMILY.
