1. ON 5 FEB 18, MAJOR J. CIHLAR, CD WILL RETIRE FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES AFTER 18+ YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE RCCS AND CANADA.
2. BORN IN OTTAWA ON, MAJOR J. CIHLAR JOINED THE CAF IN 1999. AFTER GRADUATING FROM RMC IN 2003 AND CFSCE IN 2004, HE SPENT THE MAJORITY OF HIS SIGNALS CAREER IN FIELD UNITS OR ON OPERATIONAL STAFFS, WITH ARMY STOPS AT 1 CMBG HQ & SIG SQN, 73 COMM GP HQ, 3 PPCLI, ARMY G3, RMC AMS AND DLR. MAJOR J. CIHLAR WAS PRIVILEGED TO BE SELECTED FOR SERVICE WITH CANSOFCOM IN 2014, CAPPING HIS CAREER WITH SUB-UNIT COMMAND AT CSOR AND A SENIOR APPOINTMENT AT CANSOFCOM HQ. HIS CAREER HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE TWO DEPLOYMENTS WITH 1 SIGS TO KANDAHAR, AFGHANISTAN (2006, 2009) AND EVERY MOMENT SPENT WITH TROOPS IN THE FIELD
3. MAJOR J. CIHLAR AND HIS WIFE WILL CONSOLIDATE ON THEIR CURRENT POSITION IN ARNPRIOR ON. HIS WIFE WILL CARRY ON REPAIRING THE BROKEN BONES, TORN LIGAMENTS AND DISLOCATED JOINTS OF THE OTTAWA VALLEY (WITH SPECIAL THANKS TO 2 CMBG AND CANSOF NORTH FOR A STEADY SOURCE OF BUSINESS) AS SHE CONTINUES HER SURGICAL CAREER AT PEMBROKE REGIONAL HOSPITAL. MAJOR J. CIHLAR HAS ACCEPTED A PUBLIC SERVICE OFFER FROM DND AND WILL JOIN THE QUALITY ENGINEERING TEST ESTABLISHMENT AS A RADIO FREQUENCY ENGINEER
