1. CAPT TOM CHAMBERS WILL BE RETIRING ON 19 MARCH 2019 AFTER 31 YEARS OF LOYAL DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE CANADIAN FORCES/CANADIAN ARMY.

2. CAPT CHAMBERS JOINED THE CF ON 4 FEB 1988 IN CALGARY, ALBERTA, TRAVELING TO CFB CORNWALLIS TO COMPLETE HIS BASIC TRAINING. ON THE COMPLETION OF HIS BASIC TRAINING HE CONTINUED TO CANADIAN FORCES SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATIONS AND ELECTRONICS, WHERE HE COMPLETED POET (PERFORMANCE ORIENTED ELECTRONICS TRAINING TECHNICIAN) AND TQ3 FOR RADIO TECHNICIAN, GRADUATING IN JULY 1989.

3. AS A RAD TECH, HIS FIRST POSTING WAS TO 4 WING BASE TELECOM AT CFB COLD LAKE (JULY 1989-JULY 1994). HERE HE WAS INTEGRATED AS A PART OF THE GROUND SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAM (GSAR) AND RECEIVED TRAINING ON LAND SURVIVAL AND GROUND SEARCH TECHNIQUES. IN 1994 HE WAS POSTED TO THE FIRST REGIMENT ROYAL CANADIAN HORSE ARTILLERY IN SHILO, MANITOBA. HE EXPERIENCED A TRADE AMALGAMATION, BECOMING A LAND COMMUNICATIONS INFORMATION SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN (LCIS) AND THEN HE ENJOYED THE THRILLS OF THE ICE STORM, DEPLOYING TO HEMMINGFORD/ST BERNARD REGION OF QUEBEC. PROMOTED TO THE RANK OF MASTER CORPORAL, HE THEN COMPLETED A TOUR OF BOSNIA IN 2000 AS A PART OF THE 3 PPCLI BATTLEGROUP AND WAS SUBSEQUENTLY POSTED TO CFB EDMONTON, 1 HQ & SIGNALS SQUADRON IN NOV 2000. WHILE AT 1 HQ & SIGS, HE WENT OVERSEAS TO QATAR FOR OP APOLLO IN 2002 AND WAS TASKED TO ASSIST WITH TCCS FIELDING PROJECT AND THE ILTIS/MILCOTS CONVERSION.

4. HE WAS POSTED TO 1 SERVICE BATTALION IN APRIL 2005, WHERE HE WAS PROMOTED TO THE RANK OF SERGEANT AND IMMEDIATELY POSTED TO OTTAWA IN JULY 2005. SERGEANT CHAMBERS WAS THE SOLE ELECTRONICS MAINTAINER FOR THE CANADIAN FORCES NATIONAL INVESTIGATIONS SERVICE SUPPORT DETACHMENT (CFNIS SD) AND PERFORMED ELECTRONICS SUPPORT TO THE NIS AS PART OF THEIR SURVEILLANCE TEAMS. PROMOTED TO THE RANK OF WARRANT OFFICER, HE WAS POSTED TO CANADIAN FORCES INFORMATION OPERATIONS GROUP HQ (CFIOG HQ) AT CFS LEITRIM OTTAWA, AS A LIFE-CYCLE MATERIAL MANAGER FOR A NETWORK.

5. ACHIEVING THE RANK OF MASTER WARRANT OFFICER, HE BECAME THE SSM FOR CFSTG TS TIS (CF SUPPORT TRAINING GROUP – TECH SERVICES – TELECOM INFORMATION SYSTEMS) IN JULY 2011 AND COMMISSIONED FROM THE RANKS IN JULY 2013. CAPT CHAMBERS WAS POSTED TO CFB SUFFIELD AND ASSUMED THE ROLE OF OFFICER COMMANDING DETACHMENT SUFFIELD OF 3 CANADIAN DIVISION SUPPORT GROUP SIGNAL SQUADRON. HERE HE SAW THE UPGRADE OF THE SUFFIELD TRUNKED RADIO SYSTEM AMONGS OTHER PROJECTS. HE HELD HIS POST FROM JULY 2013 TO JULY 2017, WHEN HE WAS POSTED TO CFB WAINWRIGHT INTO CMTC G6 OPS ROLE AND IS CURRENTLY HOLDING THIS POSITION.

6. TOM AND HIS WIFE KAREN OF 32 YEARS HAVE TWO DAUGHTERS: VICTORIA AND CAROLINE. HE PLANS TO RETURN TO MEDICINE HAT TO SETTLE INTO A QUIET CIVILIAN LIFE WITH HIS WIFE KAREN.
