1. CHIEF WARRANT OFFICER MICHEL BOISLARD WILL BE RETIRING FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES ON 5 MARCH 2019 AFTER 40+ YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE TO CANADA.

2. ORIGINALLY FROM DANVILLE, QC, MICHEL ENROLLED AS A COMMUNICATOR RESEARCH IN OCTOBER 1978. FOLLOWING RECRUIT TRAINING IN ST-JEAN SUR RICHELIEU AND OCCUPATION TRAINING IN KINGSTON, HE SERVED IN A NUMBER OF CAPACITY IN THE FIELD OF SIGNALS INTELLIGENCE, ELECTRONIC WARFARE AND CYBER FORCE DEVELOPMENT AT NUMEROUS LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY, IN THE UNITED STATES, OVERSEAS ON EXERCISES AND OPERATIONS.

3. MICHEL’S ASSIGNMENTS HAVE INCLUDED: TWO TOURS AT CFS MASSET, ONE YEAR AT THE FOREIGN LANGUAGE SCHOOL IN OTTAWA, THREE YEARS WITH 2 EW SQN KINGSTON WHICH HAVE INCLUDED A NUMBER OF MAJOR EXERCISES IN CANADA, GERMANY AND ONBOARD HMCS IROQUOIS AND ATHABASKAN, FIVE YEARS WITH THE COMMUNICATIONS SECURITY ESTABLISHMENT (CSE) IN OTTAWA, FOUR YEARS WITH THE NATIONAL SECURITY AGENCY (NSA) IN FT MEADE, MARYLAND, A 6 MONTHS ASSIGNMENT WITH THE JOINT IMAGERY CENTRE, AND THREE POSTINGS TO CFS LEITRIM, THE LAST ONE IN 2009 AS SGT MAJ 1 SQN.

4. MICHEL ALSO WORKED AS THE ADM (IM) GP L1 TASKER IN ADDITION TO SUPPORTING THE TECHICAL BRANCH OF THE PRIVY COUNCIL OFFICE DURING THE PRIME MINISTER’S FOREIGN TRIPS. IN 2009, HE ALSO SERVED AS SGT MAJ FOR OP NEVUS, THE ANNUAL MAINTENANCE OPERATION OF THE HIGH ARCTIC DATA COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM II BETWEEN EUREKA AND ALERT, NUNAVUT.

5. IN ADDITION TO THESE ASSIGNMENTS, MICHEL HAS COMPLETED FOUR TOURS AT CFS ALERT AND TWO OVERSEAS DEPLOYMENT: FIRST AS EW LIAISON OFFICER WITH HQ MND SOUTHWEST BANJA LUKA, BOSNIA HERZEGOVINA AND SGT MAJ EW TP AS PART OF THE ALL SOURCES INTELLIGENCE CENTRE IN KANDAHAR, AFGHANISTAN.

6. PROMOTED TO HIS CURRENT RANK SUMMER 2009, MICHEL FIRST SERVED WITH LFDTS HQ KINGSTON AS OCCUPATION ADVISOR FOR THE ARMY. UPON HIS RETURN TO OTTAWA, HE WAS BRIEFLY ASSIGNED TO THE OFFICE DG MILITARY SIGINT BEFORE BEING SELECTED TO BECOME THE CF INFORMATION OPERATIONS GROUP CWO FROM 2011 – 2014. AFTERWARD HE WAS APPOINTED AS THE COMMUNICATIONS & ELECTRONIC BRANCH CWO REPRESENTING THE 7500+ SERVING MEMBERS OF THE BRANCH FROM 2014 – 2016. SINCE THEN, HE HAS BEEN WORKING WITH THE DIRECTORATE CYBER FORCE OPERATIONS FORCE DEVELOPMENT STANDING UP THE NEW CYBER OPERATOR OCCUPATION.

7. MICHEL WILL BE REMAINING IN THE NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION AS HE ACCEPTED A JOB WITH THE PUBLIC SERVICE.

8. A DEPART WITH DIGNITY CEREMONY WILL BE HELD IN HIS HONOUR ON FRIDAY 15 MARCH 2019 AT THE NDHQ WARRANT OFFICERS & SERGEANTS’ MESS, 4 QUEEN ELIZABETH DR, OTTAWA, ON K2P 2H9 STARTING AT 1200 HRS AT A COST OF $25.00.
