1. LCOL D. JONES WILL RETIRE FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES, 12 JULY 2019, AFTER 26 PLUS YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE.
2. LCOL D. JONES ENROLLED IN 1993, STARTING BASIC TRAINING THE SAME WEEK HE FINISHED HIGH SCHOOL. HE ATTENDED CMR AT ST-JEAN AND GRADUATED FROM RMC KINGSTON IN 1998 WITH A MECHANICAL ENGINEERING DEGREE. UPON GRADUATION FROM CELE AIR PHASE TRAINING, HE WAS OFF TO OTTAWA TO START A SPORTS SCHOLARSHIP WITH NUMEROUS BASKETBALL AND VOLLEYBALL TEAMS, WITH A LITTLE BIT OF WORK IN THE IM GROUP WITH THE AFCCIS PROJECT UNTIL 2002. AS YOUNG CAPTAIN HE SERVED AS A TROOP COMMANDER AND DCO AT 764 COMM SQN. IN 2004, HE WAS TECH SERVICES OFFICER AT 8 ACCS IN TRENTON, HIGHLIGHTED BY A TAV TO ETHIOPIA TO ACTIVATE OP AUGURAL. IN 2006, HE APPLIED TO JOIN CSOR DURING THE STAND-UP OF THE UNIT AND EARNED THE SF OPERATOR QUALIFICATION. THIS POSTING WAS HIGHLIGHTED WITH LEADING THE STAND-UP OF OP ACKEE AND DEPLOYMENT WITH THE SOTF IN AFGHANISTAN. IN 2009, LCOL D. JONES WAS POSTED TO THE JOINT SIGNALS REGIMENT IN KINGSTON, SERVED AS OC 1 SQN AND DEPLOYED AS OC SIG SQN ON OP CADENCE AND THEATRE J6/DCO THEATRE ACTIVATION TEAM FOR OP ATTENTION IN AFGHANISTAN. FOLLOWING A YEAR IN ADM(MAT), HE WAS APPOINTED COMMANDING OFFICER OF THE CANADIAN FORCES CRYPTO MAINTENANCE UNIT IN KINGSTON. UPON PROMOTION TO LCOL, HE WAS POSTED BACK TO THE IM GROUP IN OTTAWA. IN 2016, HE RETURNED TO CANSOF WHERE HE WAS THE FORCE DEVELOPMENT LEAD FOR THE COMMAND’S C4ISR PORTFOLIO.
3. LCOL D. JONES, ALONG WITH HIS WIFE AND TWO DAUGHTERS (NAME(S) REMOVED 2023 APRIL 20 BY ADMIN), ARE MOVING BACK TO THE MARITIMES AND PUTTING ROOTS DOWN IN HALIFAX, NS. LCOL D. JONES WILL CONTINUE TO SERVE ON A PART TIME BASIS WITH A CLASS A RESERVE CONTRACT WITH CANSOFCOM’S INNOVATION PROGRAM.
