1. LIEUTENANT-COLONEL D. MULDERS WILL RETIRE FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES AND THE COMMUNICATIONS AND ELECTRONICS BRANCH ON 13 AUGUST 2018 AFTER MORE THAN 38 YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE TO CANADA.

2. LIEUTENANT-COLONEL D. MULDERS JOINED THE CANADIAN FORCES IN 1980 AND IN RELATIVELY SHORT ORDER OBTAINED BOTH A BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN PHYSICS AND COMPUTER SCIENCE FROM ROYAL ROADS MILITARY COLLEGE AND A MASTER’S DEGREE IN COMPUTER SCIENCE FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF WATERLOO. HE EVEN MANAGED TO TEACH COMPUTER SCIENCE AT RRMC AFTER THAT (1989 – 1992).

3. THROUGHOUT HIS CAREER, LIEUTENANT-COLONEL MULDERS HAS HAD CONSIDERABLE COMMAND AND STAFF EXPERIENCE IN COMMUNICATIONS AND INFORMATION SERVICES, WITH A PARTICULAR EMPHASIS ON AIR DEFENCE OPERATIONS. HE WAS THE MAINTENANCE OFFICER AT CFS HOLBERG (1985 – 1987), HE WORKED AT CANADIAN FORCES COMMUNICATION COMMAND (1992-1996), HE COMMANDED 4 WING COLD LAKE TIS SQUADRON (1996-1999) AND THEN 764 INFORMATION SERVICES DELIVERY SQUADRON OTTAWA (1999-2000). FOLLOWING A YEAR AT STAFF COLLEGE, HE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO FURTHER CANADA’S AIR DEFENCE CAPABILITIES WHILE AT TYNDALL AFB, FLORIDA (2001-2004) AND THEN WAS EVEN THE WING COMMANDER OF 22 WING NORTH BAY FOR 14 MONTHS WHILE SERVING THERE AS THE WATSO (2004-2007). HE THEN COMMANDED THE CANADIAN CONTINGENT WHILE AT THE SAME TIME BEING THE CANADIAN DEPUTY NATIONAL MILITARY REPRESENTATIVE TO SHAPE (2007-2010)

4. EXPERIENCED IN STRATEGIC AND OPERATIONAL HEADQUARTERS, LIEUTENANT COLONEL MULDERS WAS APPOINTED 1 CAD A6 (2010-12) AND CJOC J6 (2014-2015). HE ALSO SPENT EIGHT MONTHS IN KABUL AFGHANISTAN ASSISTING THE AFGHANISTAN AIR FORCE WITH OPERATIONAL PLANNING.

5. IN 2015, LIEUTENANT-COLONEL MULDERS RETURNED TO SHAPE, THIS TIME WORKING IN CYBER DEFENCE. IN 2016, THE SHAPE CYBER DIVISION WAS CREATED AND LIEUTENANT-COLONEL MULDERS BECAME THE BRANCH HEAD RESPONSIBLE FOR CYBER POLICY AND CAPABILITIES. HE IS BEING REPLACED BY A COLONEL SO HE MUST HAVE DONE SOMETHING RIGHT DURING HIS LAST JOB.

6. LIEUTENANT-COLONEL D. MULDERS AND HIS WIFE  WILL RETIRE TO NANOOSE BAY, BRITISH COLUMBIA WHERE THEY HAVE PURCHASED THEIR RETIREMENT HOME MOMENTS AWAY FROM THE STRAIT OF GEORGIA. HE WILL NO LONGER WORK FOR A LIVING, BUT WILL ASSUREDLY JOIN THE LOCAL PIPE BAND AND CAROLYN WILL CONTINUE HER QUILTING ADVENTURE. THEY ARE BOTH READY TO SETTLE DOWN AND ENJOY LIFE IN WHAT IS SURELY THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PART OF CANADA.

7. A DEPART WITH DIGNITY MIXED RETIREMENT FUNCTION WILL BE HELD IN
HIS HONOUR AT THE SHAPE CLUB, SHAPE, CASTEAU, BELGIUM, ON SATURDAY, 9 JUNE 2018, COMMENCING AT 1900 HRS.
